" There is a windmill in the field in Rębielice Królewskie. The field is owned by Józef Antos, residing at ul. Główna 41. Born in 1932, a mechanical locksmith, for 25 years he worked on the construction of the largest wind farm in Europe. Finally, in 2003, a massive steel structure was erected on the eastern edge of Rębielice Królewskie. Hundreds of pieces were welded together on site and lifted by a small elevator, the huge circular-bladed windmill was welded together. Its total height is 54 meters, and the diameter of the 280-square-blade circle (300 square meters) is 32 meters. The total weight of this power plant is 240 tons, its resistance to destruction is 65 m / s. "Unfortunately, the lack of a suitable generator still prevents Mr. Antos from starting the production of electricity." [4]. This interesting facility is one of the greatest attractions not only of the village, but also of the entire poviat. Information about him appears quite often in the press and television. The small village of Rębielice Królewskie in the Silesian Voivodeship has about 1000 inhabitants and is not one of the most significant towns in Poland. However, there is a structure that attracts not only the eye, but also tourists - a giant wind turbine in the shape of a circle. Today, the forgotten structure is the work of Józef Antos. The history of this unusual wind farm dates back to 1978, when Józef Antos decided to build an unusual wind farm in his field. Mr. Antos, a locksmith and mechanic by profession, decided to build a wind turbine with one circular wing. Work on the unusual structure lasted until 2003 and cost the designer over PLN 1 million. The windmill has a diameter of 32 m and consists of 280 blades. The whole is placed on a steel tower, so the entire structure is 54 meters high and weighs 240 tons. According to the calculations, the power plant was to generate 35 kW of energy at a wind speed of only 2 m / s. At a speed of 14 m / s, the power was to increase up to 2000 kW. Unfortunately, despite the completion of the construction in 2003, Józef Antos could not find a suitable generator to install in his turbine. Worse, the constructor died on October 13. The turbine he built was never put into operation and is now decaying left unattended. After the creator's death, the rotor was rotated to be sideways to the strongest winds, but nevertheless many blades were broken from the blocked structure. Probably the windmill will never be put into operation again, and in a few years it will be dismantled due to its poor technical condition. It is worth adding that many specialists question the parameters assigned to Mr. Antos's construction. According to them, at higher wind speeds, the turbine would simply break due to the inability to control the angle of the rotor blades. Unfortunately, it looks like we'll never know if that would happen. More info: www.smartage.pl/niesamowita-turbina-wiatrowa-w-rebielicach-krolewskich "

I felt that jump in my stomach from just watching the video! damn. It's amazing how high up it looks when you are up there, but at the ground the structure doesnt seem all that high, until you see the little person still standing up there.
