Team USA needs 2-way players to get the most minutes in the Olympics. Guys like Tatum, Ant, AD, Holiday, Embiid, and mayyyybe Kawhi. LeBron, KD, and Curry are going to get blown by by the other teams. Can't hide them on defense like they get away with in the NBA. LeBron and Embiid won't get away with slowing down the game for dramatic flops either.

You can’t just throw a bunch of All-Stars together and expect them to become a team in a few weeks. In the past, USA was so far ahead of the rest of the world in terms of talent they could get away with it. That time is over. The players on teams from other countries have been playing together using international FIBA rules for years. I’m not taking anything for granted this year.

Let us not forget that most of these teams were playing together since the FIBA youth tournaments, team chemistry is deeply established, making execution on offense and defense almost second nature to them.

Another huge difference in FIBA rules is that you are allowed to swipe the ball off the basket after 1 bounce even though it's still above the cylinder. This is something which team USA will have a hard time adapting compared to the Europeans, and also makes true centers even more valuable

You add on top of that, the world is getting is so much better and got much better in basketball. They have learn from past defeats in international tournaments, they are not dumb, and they are getting much more experience rather than grief for losing.

My only bone to pick with this video was him saying Lebron was " the USA basketball player of the 2010's". He didnt even play on the 2016 team. More appropriate would be Kevin Durant as he was a high contributing factor on all those teams 2012 and 2016 and even the 2020 team that played in 2021 and dominated those matches.

That Spain team was one of the most decorated international teams ever. They have been playing together since youth and won medals together. People really underestimate Spain in those years because they dont follow international basketball save the Olympics.

About the Mills and Rudy Fernandez point. There are a lot of players, both in USA and overseas , that would be good NBA starters if you gave them the usage and leeway to do it. The issue is there's only so many starter spots in the NBA , and they tend to go to the guys the team and the stuff knows or has invested in.

Its kind of strange how easy everyone forgot about 2019, as if the failure of last years world cup was unheard of. That team was probably even worse, led by Kemba and a young Boston Celtics. But they lost in the quarterfinals(!) and then against Serbia finaly beating Czech republic grabing a 7th place. Lebron has actually got an oppurtunity to fail to get a gold for the thrid time in worls cup and olympics, becomming an historic three time bronzemedalist😂. Thank you Noah Lyles for making people care about fiba tournaments. Another thing the media overlooks is that a lot of the teams USA face in the world cup are also playing the "b-team", that was for instance the case when Antman, JJJ and Brunson lost to Lithuania last year. Serbia was also without Jokic and a lot of their top talent, still grabbing a silver.

What I would like to see is European Olympic teams today vs the 92' dream team those would probably be some goated matches.
