At 0:07-1:05 Sec Is Verdin Clock Tower In UNCW Have Some Hour Chime And Hour Strike Has Fredonia First United Methodist Church.

The intital shock that they got it working shows how important this tower is to the university. Its a big deal so students know when they are late for class. 0:07

I wonder if they use the exact same chime mechanism because the chimes sound exactly like the Sanfransisco clock tower which is on the ferry building.

in which in the ferry building they don't use real bells, they use speakers

Ferry Building has a BRG Carillon, this tower at UNCW had Verdin Clocks and a Verdin Electronic Carillon. Hope this helps you guys. Cheers! -GTBock

The bells are actually just decorations, the sounds are coming from loud PA speakers in the tower being operated by a control panel. is it a Schulmerich carillon system?

No it's a Verdin, the system is a Alpha II Solid State Carillon.

this is a nice clock but i would rather have real bells but I can see why they chose fake bells. its a lot cheaper and more simple

The reason why they chose electronic bells is because it costs more for real bells.
