Slavery was sadly part of WORLD history for thousands of year's and was socially accepted(social norm) across the world including Africa where Africans owned and sold their own people. Slavery was not a race issue; rather a humanitarian issue. Every race, gender, religion, and age group has been the victim of slavery throughout world history. The industrial revolution ended slavery across the world not the Union. No matter who won the second war of independence(civil war) slavery was going to end in the Union, yes if the Confederacy won the war slavery would have ended. Jefferson Davis made this very clear many times if you do real research. Check out Donald Livingston The Reason The South Seceded if you are truly interested in the civil war. The father's of the Confederacy, the likes of Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee understood the basic principles that America was founded on. Those basic principles being De-centralized government built around small limited government that would naturally stay De-centralized and weak. The Union AFTER the civil war grew the Federal government exponentially and got involved in never ending propaganda filled war's throughout the 20th century that brought on lasting debt and death to innocent people. The Confederacy believed in state militias that would have never gotten involved in foreign conflict the way the Union has. Sadly the Union has destroyed this once great nation.
