Is Blazblue and BB tag dead on switch?
@SwitchCorner4 жыл бұрын
I don’t go to tag too often honestly, centralfiction I still find a lot of fights though but I will say I also see a lot of the same people online so i think like all fighters that it’s a dedicated community now, just means a slightly steeper barrier of entry! Amazing game though!

Picked it up tonight. Solid experience for sure. Very surprising that Arc isn't promoting this game at all. Zero mention of it on their social media on release day or leading up to it. My one major complaint was the absence of English voice acting. I thought the English VAs did a great job with the Under Night characters in BBTAG.
@SwitchCorner4 жыл бұрын
Agreed but also, this visual novel is so long I’m sure English voice acting would have easily pushed up that $40 price tag. Even though arcs name is on this one as publisher it’s not developed by them, that honor goes to Ecole and French bread! I wonder if that has something to do with it and this is simply another great fighter under the Arc umbrella? If so I can understand why!

Gonna pick this up tomorrow for my switch lite. It's part of the eshop sale and it's only just over £11 so that's a plus.

Its my favorite fighting game, is it as good on switch as it is on steam? How's the online experience?
@LordValFromHell4 жыл бұрын
It's easily my favorite fighter on Switch. DB Fighterz, Skullgirls 2nd, Power Rangers, the Street Fighter Games are great games, but UNiB seems to me a lot deeper and more fun. The SNK Fighters are also outstanding games, but are more a nostalgic thing to me. I was always a big Blazblue Fanboy, but the latest Installments changed the game mechanics to much and in a bad way imo. UNiB is doing everything right and is the new star on Switch imo. I hope ArcSystem will release more of their games and naybe other fighting games will join the Switch too.
@SwitchCorner4 жыл бұрын
I would agree regarding blazblue and that weird cross tag title but not central fiction, my number 1. I brought the fight stick literally for the SNK ones, agreed old school but fun for the nostalgia and they still hold the challenge. ARC are one of my favorite publishers, big moment for me for them to trust me to review it!
@LordValFromHell4 жыл бұрын
@@SwitchCorner Cross Tag Battle was a real shock to me. In that case Central Fiction did a much better job, but they changed some game mechanics I was used to like and it plays different to the first Blazblue. Another annoying thing are the character pictures in BB:CF - to me it just doesn't look right. I think these are very personal "problems" I have with BB:CF and it sounds picky, but these are the main reasons why my copy was never touched again after the first few hours playing it. The SNK Titles are just great to have and play with friends who had the same gaming experience during this generation, so I was able to box all my NeoGeo Stuff and having more room for other things in my gaming room. Your review is great and I hope it will motivate more gamers who like this genre and want to play it outside of the PS4 Monopol.

While I understand the gripe about the button labels, I like them more, the buttons are their own thing and not to mention you can remap them, and if the change happened I think that would be very confusing personally with remapping to get the button scheme to work with you, though as I said I understand, also favorite switch fighter is honestly probably this or blazblue central fiction

The button layout complaint is a weird one. It makes less sense to label it according to the buttons. Fighting games are known for allowing you to alter your controls to your liking. That's why they should always favor using a universal notation.
@SwitchCorner4 жыл бұрын
True but it can still be adjusted with the switch labels. It’s a totally minor thing either as I use a fight stick myself. Are you picking it up?

"a quick relable would have been insanely useful" The reason fighting games do not use ABXY but instead use ABCD from the arcades is for several reasons. 1. This standardizes the name of the inputs across all platforms, making it easier to communicate with the audience. For example, you won't need to rewrite patch notes for each console, and if you look up a combo online, it will be written in the universal language, not console-specific buttons. Since fighting games as popular around the world, a lot of effort has gone into making it as accessible to share information across language barriers as possible. 2. If you remap the buttons on the controller, this becomes even more confusing, because instead of saying "light attack" it says X but X could be anything on any controller. This is made worse by the fact people even build their own controllers for fighting games and you have no idea what they labled it. 3. This gets even worse for contextual actions like VCO, Chain Shift, Assault or Force Function which would simply say the button but not why you are pressing it. This is mainly an issue when doing the combo trials. Anyway I just wanted to clear this up since the FGC is often accused of gatekeeping by writing combos in arcane code like "B > 2C > FF > j.C > 236B" it's not to keep out beginners it's because it's actually more inclusive this way for all the different players of the game. Edit: It would be alright to have a button that lets you toggle between default control input and arcade input to help beginners, but it shouldn't be a crutch since the moment you try to explain the inputs to anyone else you are SoL and it would make communication in the community more difficult. It's better for everyone to learn the same ABCD language instead of speaking ABXY vs BAYX vs square triangle X circle or carved out cardboard pizza box with 40 remappable buttons on it. Yes it takes some getting used to but it's worth it for the community in the long run.
