Fun fact: we know that porpoises used to swim upstream through the Seine because they were a priced delicacy for the monarchy, so much so that they drew them away. Cetaceans haven't ventured much into european fresh waters since.

This movie is fr incredible, I have always been fond of sharks my whole childhood… I see very less shark movies that I personally like. This one hit my top list. Less drama more action. An extremely entertaining and fascinating movie… I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is an masterpiece and wonderfully directed and executed.

Some ingredients of a classic shark movie- sunny beach full of kids, daring adult who surf far from shores and becomes the first victim, a high tech science lab tracing the shark/ an old shark expert who predicts next location of the shark, protagonist coming back from retirement for the last time. But this one looks very unique so very excited to see how this turns out 😁

There’s only a single species of shark that is capable of even attempting to get into the seine. It’s the bull shark, the only shark capable of surviving in fresh water. No shark would even go up the seine as it is as the river is not exactly the cleanest. Also Paris is really inland from the mouth of the river and no shark is recorded to be that inland from the river’s mouth. The Seine is not exactly on any fishery list as nobody ever fishes it and not many prey type fish exist in those waters.

I wish they didn't make so many films that portray sharks as evil enemies... they are in fact quite sentient creatures, vital to ocean health and as capable of bonding with people as any other animal.

I wholeheartedly agree you on all that as the negative influence Jaws had in the general perception of Sharks was huge. On the other hand, where things can (and have been done differently to a degree) is on some Shark documentaries (at least ones that weren't cut criminally short) the teams have started taking care to attempt at capturing footage of the animals on a more natural state rather than having a more fenzied and more aggressive triggered by using chum and etc. They are inquisitve creatures and as such are bound to be curious when something or someone enters their "backyard". Humans just so happen to be way too squishy and fragile to withstand some of the shark's "investigative tools"

Ngl thought this movie was well written, animation was pretty decent. The way it ended was pretty wicked that’s for sure. 10x better than most cheesy movies. It actually had a good plot, and some unique parts to the movie. I would give it a solid 8.5/10 it was actually really well done.

Personally think it was badly written, I liked it cause of the CGI but if I’m being honest, the ending was trash. It made little sense and the characters were mostly all unlikable and in a bad way. The plot was good, it had lots of potential but the execution was poor. Animation was good in most parts I agree, though this movie was pretty cheesy. I’d rate it a 4/10. (I respect your opinion btw! And I’m not at all trying to say your opinion is wrong or invalid. It’s cool if you like it, I found it enjoyable at certain points)
