ABOUT BROOKLYN NINE-NINE
"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" follows the exploits of hilarious Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and his stoically ever-professional captain, Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher), along with their diverse, lovable colleagues as they police the NYPD's 99th Precinct. In this final season of the series, Jake and the squad must try to balance their personal lives and their professional lives over the course of a very difficult year.
Rounding out the ensemble is Sgt. Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumera), who has a passion for organization and a weakness for dork dancing; Lt. Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), a mountain of a man whose most powerful muscle is his sweetheart; Jake's best friend and human puppy dog, Det. Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio); and the incredibly secretive, tough-as-nails Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz). Also part of the Nine-Nine are veteran officers Det. Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) and Det. Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker), whose only skill as police officers is their ability to make a passable pot of coffee.
Created by Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" won the 2014 Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical (Samberg). Another realisation: the reason the glass didn't break despite Jake throwing the thing at it is because it was replaced with extra strong reinforced glass, because Jake broke during one of the interrogations ("ask him about his bank account ...Captain! Santiago broke the glass")

The twin Mustard costumes just say it all about Hitchcock & Scully. You know they went for a costume that requires two people because they're inseparable. Food is their motif. But of course they mess it up and both of them are Mustard.

The more you think about any joke, the less funny it is. There's a layer of absurdity and disbelief that lends to the humor and if you remove that, none of it's really that funny, these people would be insufferable and infuriating to be around. It's a symptom of watching shows like this over and over the way we do, the veneer of absurdity starts to fall away and we start viewing them like we view real people, which they aren't.

@@kanedaku Yeah, its weird to say but it felt a little too current. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but personally I’ve always found it uncomfortable to watch when stuff does that. Its not even the politics (though that did get way too serious for a comedy show to still be funny and I would argue it wasn’t the best medium to deliver that message). It just feels too “real” and not fictional enough and it ends up feeling jarring/cringey and taking me out of the narrative. I can’t even watch shows doing COVID and masks rn.

God, the room is honestly the best episode in the entire show. It takes place in a single setting (2 i guess if you include the room behind the interrogation glass) and it is done so incredibly well
