Larry Roberson most important is getting the carcasses square and the angle right. Template the space is a good idea.... make sure you plumb a line on your template so the carcass has a good chance of sitting plumb and level under the stairs. Adjustable feet make this job far easier... then fitting the runner parallel to one another is key for good action on the drawers. Fitting the runners off a square to the front edge of the carcass works well. Good luck.

Haha! well... drawers are made of birch ply 18mm, 12mm for the bases. Main carcass 18mm MR MDF. Doors again MR MDF 18mm and 6mm with some small pine panel mouldings. Then some rather long push to open side mounted drawer slides... that's it really. The plan is in my head sorry. I will document the next build to give you some idea of the process. Oh, internals are varnished, oil based, and the doors and carcass are handprinted with emulsion...

Carl Pooley hi mate, I don’t suppose you can give me some tips on fitting the drawer runners please. I’m in the process of making something similar to this using the same drawer runners as you’ve used and have set the runners so that they are flush on the front edge of the internal framework and also flush to the front of the draw boxes so that when the box is shut, it should be about 2mm proud of the drawer carcass. When the drawer fronts are off they work fine but as soon as I put them on, they’re just not working. I’m wondering if I should set the drawer runners a few mm proud of the carcass so that the drawer fronts have a bit more play in them to activate the push catch mechanism? Sorry for the long message but any tips would be appreciated. Cheers.
@theditchlingcabinetmaker77
@theditchlingcabinetmaker77 4 жыл бұрын
Dan Dan I agree with your thinking. I’d be inclined to do the other option and set the runners slightly back on the drawer box but it’s the same result. Tip - Match sticks to plug the existing holes means your screws are less likely to end up in the old hole.
@bob6693
@bob6693 4 жыл бұрын
Carl Pooley yeh good idea. There is a bit of play on in the wholes in the runners do hopefully I can just loosen them up slightly and then move them back a couple of mm, then re tighten. Cheers for getting back to me, it’s really appreciated.
