New Zealand and South Africa are about the only two English-speaking countries that pronounce short, "I" like a short, "u."

There are NO similarities between New Zealand and Australian accents. The NZ accents you refer to is a couple of guys Taki g the Mickey out of the accent. Taika is also taking the Mickey out of the European Maori accent.

Um, there are quite a lot of differences between the kiwi and Aussie accents! Vowel sounds in particular. Slang has a lot of differences too
