With Russian invading Ukraine, Taiwan found itself in somehow similar threatening situation. Depending on the worlds reaction China might do another move and the situation still remains uncertain.

There is a wonderful 2011 movie about the indigenous people of Taiwan in the 1930s under Japanese occupation called Warriors of the Rainbow. It’s in Chinese, Japanese, and indigenous languages with English subtitles. You got the history correctly. The indigenous people are most closely related to Philippine indigenous tribes and linguistically most closely related to Hawaiian. According to DNA evidence they migrated from Hainan on the Chinese mainland about 40 thousand years ago. Chinese fishermen arrived about 400 years ago from Fukien province on the mainland and are commonly referred to as Taiwanese to distinguish them from the Kuomintang 1949 migration from the mainland.

Taiwan should do what Ukraine should have done after 2014. More marketing of everything. Country, people, culture... I didn't know much about Ukraine before 2022 and I still know only little about Taiwan. It's now way easier to relate to Ukrainians because of the interaction on youtube.

Come to us, to Ukraine and enroll in the Ukrainian International Legion stand with another foreigners back to back with brave Ukrainian soldiers or become a volunteer to help Ukrainian civilians affected by russian missile attacks, to provide to them and to all of us with everything necessary for life, for survival in these difficult times and this definitely could show that you are not a russian puppet.
