I have a disability and I feel like this completely putting me into special education classes and not teaching me anything as a kid destroyed myself esteem made me feel that I couldn't do anything for myself but now that I'm living on my own I do just fine the reason why I struggle is because I was made to believe that I can't do it anyway so I often don't bother but it's all nonsense I can do the work but how I was raised was so wrong raised to basically be disabled and be depressed and think of myself like never being able to do anything for myself it ruined me

Thankyou so much for this informative and very caring video... I am a mental health peer support, also I have very serious mental health issues. I am in a relationship with a man who has a mental health problem, combined with a developmental disability. And I have struggled for over 2 years now, trying my best to be patient with him.... you have really opened my eyes....it is a big learning process for me.

I have worked in the field of education for 36+ years, as a PreK teacher, a PCA and a paraprofessional. I recently retired from full-time teaching and I am working at our local DAC as a job coach/direct support professional. I found this video very enlightening. I'd love to hear an updated presentation from this angel on earth!

I am a DSP I agree with this video absolutely,we need to change this industry period. The agencies do not offer enough training to management or dsp. I watch tutorials so I can stay educated for the role I play in the people I work for,that’s how I came across this amazing video

I agree that DSPS do need to be more educated in understanding people with special needs.

Doesnt matter how much education the dsp has. The job is stressful and the burnout is real. You will NOT find staff willing to do everything that needs to be done when they are treated like shit by clients and management. I'm a DSP and we are treated like we dont matter and the clients are treated like a cash flow. I hate my job and hate coming here in the morning. I'm currently looking for anything that pays more than what I make here.

So I want to introduce myself my name is Elaine obviously. I'm scheduled for a job interview tomorrow for a job of what I think I'm supposed to be doing. I got stuck when they called me and asked me if I have experience and what you just said I wish I could put all of it in 1 sentence so I can give to them. I have knowledge because I have family members that are gifted. Also I wish I could just open my chest and let them see. Because I've seen so much cruelty on TV and since I've been aware of what society is about I have become so eager to do what my heart and soul was born to do. I appreciate everything you said. i was diagnosed with autism and did my undergrad inpolitical science/human rights in st thomas university won the state of new jersey in geography I can speak every Un language i did my masters iN international human rights law in Queens Univeristy Belfast and I work fo rhte International Criminal Court started my own human rights NGo in South Africa and once omar al bashir is in priusoN ic an move to South Africa taught myself Afrikaans Xhosa Zulu and Portugueuse

Yeah I get what you're going through, I have down syndrome and anytime I go out I witness people just bust out laughing when they see me and it fucking sucks and I hate it but I know it will never end.

I'm going through ridicule on Instagram because I'm trying to become socially acceptable but I mess up SO much. it's sad when normal people don't have patience with us ASD/ Developmental disabilities people. I think to myself,"Come on! I'm a nice person! " I feel lonely a lot. I don't have family and friends, just a dog right now. my insurance doesn't cover for help here in GA so I'm behind. I'm 45 and it's difficult to catch up to other 45 year olds without judgment. I do want to learn but it leaves me utterly depressed. 😕

All and all they the workforce regulators say there protected but there lot of cases where that’s not true someone with a disability has to work 5 times as hard just to keep average

I am a direct support professional. Ive been doing this for well over a year. I loved it when I started but now I literally hate my job. I dread going to work everyday just to be punched by an adult baby.
