If avilo ever says, "wow, i got outplayed... this guy is better than me" the world would end. seriously though, Neuro, your stuff on mindset and improving your mental approach is the best in the community. there are a million ways to lose at starcraft and i learn new ones everytime i play.

Would you say that it is a good mindset to respect your opponent and have a fair match where they better player wins regardless of the mindset of said player? Although Avilo has a salty mindset I'd still lose to him, because he plays well compared to most people, and I still respect him in that regard

Neuro i am a plat 2 thanks to the good graces of people i've met playing this game, but you are a great content producer that really helps analyze and positively understand this game. Keep doing what you do man. Further, when the hellions and banshees came to the overload dropping creep on the third, and then when two refineries were built and mined from during that time. The TBI I suffered during military service has ultimately made it impossible for me to play SC2 anymore, because I get "lost". So I would never criticize someone for losing, or not doing well. At least they did better than I could have done. But what I do have trouble with is players with bad manors, and who are unwilling to accept defeat as legitimate.

Look I totally agree with the gist of what you say, mindset, work ethics, balance in general. But to say that loosing 13 workers before your 3rd base was even saturated (like 4:30 ingame time) and that this would be "roughly equivalent" to loose the scouting SCV (+ reaper), surprises me quite a lot.

Avilo's biggest problem is himself, he has some type of mental condition (autism) that prevents him from reflecting on his actions and to make changes. He honestly believes he is one of the best mech players, and that his style of play is top level. Then when he loses to a better player he justifies the loss with accusations of cheating or game imbalance.

Starcraft2 only has 3 races, they have to be very well balanced every patch for the game to function. Blaming nerfs only works in game when draft pool has over a 100 things to pick from cos then a civ or hero can be nefed to the bone in some patch cos the game is still playable with 99 viable picks. If Terran was unplayably weak youd see pro terans move to protos or zerg like when naga siren was nefted in dota she 2 only picked twice out of over a 100 game in the international rather than the previous contested in 80% of the games.

I've noticed that when I lose, I know exactly why: to slow to expand, suck at micro, not full wall off (that sucks :P). But when I win, many times I have no idea why :D Then, I look at the replay and I wonder even more. During the game I feel like I'm doing so much, but in reality, the replay is so boring that I need to fast forward to interesting bits. This game is so weird sometimes.
@markuskoivisto5 жыл бұрын
The latter part is basically Starcraft in a nutshell. Watching the replay you don’t have to think about formulating a plan, you’re not busy trying to execute. You’re instead left with watching what you’re actually done. It’s also kind of why the game looks so much easier when you watch someone else play, even if it’s someone above your level. You can see what they do but you’re not inside of their mind.

So Avilo thinks the Raven anti armor nerf so it isn't a cancer unit is a bad nerf that makes Terran unplayable
@Merknilash5 жыл бұрын
This is so funny bc he obviously got outplayed and was behind He didn’t have to deal with some OP opening harass like early lotv liberator cheese - he didn’t have to deal with some OP timing - he simply fell behind and lost an attack But then again this idiot thinks Terran should have two fully supported play styles where mixing units isn’t necessary unlike every other race which has to use everything it has Even BW you needed to mix marines and tanks and sci vessels but ‘whaa muh upgrade paths’ lmao
@championskyeterrier6 жыл бұрын
It's only common sense that the only things that can make you a better player are the things you can control or change, i.e. your own play. Imbalance and whether someone cheats are not under your control so complaining about them or focusing on them do not help your own play at all. If your own play is as perfect as it could possibly be, then by all means focus on other things, but that's not true for anyone. The refusal of players like avilo to try to objectively evaluate flaws in their own play seriously limits how good they could ever become. It's a bit sad because he actually has talent but he will never be better than he is with that attitude.

@perkl12344 жыл бұрын
You have a small math error in the analysis. The first SCV lost is not necessarily worth a Thor and a half (but it can be). To be precise, it's worth its face value to build plus the mining time it takes to reach max SCV count minus travel time back home. Max count is subjective to the situation, so let's define it as "the point where I no longer want to build more of them". The reason is that there is max income potential defined by your SCV / army balance and going above that is detrimental to your war effort. If you never reach your max, then you've lost the largest possible amount of mining potential. If you reach you max two minutes from now, then you've only lost that amount of mining time because you wouldn''t keep producing more SCVs anyway. I'm sure this comes off as nitpicky, but I know you want to improve and I'd hate to let this go unnoticed. :)
@perkl12344 жыл бұрын
And since we're talking about value, a fun little thing to consider: when is a mineral not worth a mineral? (for those who don't see the answer straight away, I'll stop mining for the last minute of a game if you stop mining for the first minute of it)

I love you as a father Neuro and I watch all your psychological videos and I love em all.. but I think you are wrong... Avilo is aware of game balance, learning process... improvement, and all that. But he is a streamer, known for his attitude... acting big all the time... and he got addicted to his behaviour... not trashtalking after a loss, or saying.. gg, wp neuro... would mean for him a sign of a "weakness" if you want.... in his head its like... "Ye I lost," But atleast I can shit talk... and I'll say how overpowered vipers are... so that my viewers don't think I got beaten because someone is better then me. His attitude is just what makes avilo an avilo.... The same way why when YOU lose to cannon rush: You say: Gg wp... or something like that... that's what makes Neuro a Neuro... needless to say... your way is of course better... in your head you might be frustrated... but you are much more of a adult and you know its just how the game works... What I am trying to say is... that in majority of the video you were right of course... but I think Avilo is fake in a lot of ways... and he is not such a dumb potato... he is just a jerk :// anyways! Good video!
@spaasm7176 жыл бұрын
Yeah I somewhat agree with you, Avilo is playing to his 'brand'. As you will, how much of it is genuine I don't know, but he obviously knows that he gets a LOT of publicity from the way he behaves and it keeps him in a job.
@raggedcritical5 жыл бұрын
From what I've seen, beating Avilo is a matter of a) Realize you're playing Avilo b) Expand all over the entire map and build up your production and tech up in the certain knowledge that you won't be attacked and that he won't try to take his third until after you've taken *his* fourth. c) Find a creative way to style on him until he pauses the game and quits.
@christophkuntz85236 жыл бұрын
I believe, Avila is not the right source of information, when you want to talk about balancing. For me, balancing has nothing to do with the units. Everything can beat everything with good decisions and a defensive setup or at least a highground advantage. It has to do with the risks (or ressources), i have to take, to get critical information or tension. And what we can see is: Terrans whine everyday. Protoss disappear. Zerg just sit around and spam some apm, and dont know if they win or lose. The real problem is not Terrans and Zerg, but that many metal and even Diamond players have their absolutely high favorable main race, and 1/3 of them just disapears from the game, because they have to take risks, to stay in the game, which they cant handle. That is my opinion, and I am gm for ... many many years, i even dont know and I never cared about it and i never cared about balancing, because if you play 10 games a day, with good reactions, good scouting, good macro, you maybe get 1 or 2 imbalanced situations every year, in every league - and when you analyze, at the end even this is "oh, probably I didnt know.." For me the fun of playing is to hang around with "not completely stupid people" and train or show mechanics or techniques to my clan, as they show me and it is a great cooperation. Starcraft is not a game for fun, it is a hard ugly mountain of shit and you have to burrow every day, i think this is fun and I can see a lot of people collapsing every day, because they dont fight their own unskilled behavior. Greetings from Germany and sorry for my bad English :)

He’s right but pvz carrier stuff is about as close to ez as it gets in sc2
@phunkym86 жыл бұрын
all these discussions of winrates and mindsets only make sense if we lived in a world of perfect balance. theres too much broken shit still in the game that shouldnt have even left beta stage 8 years or in the case of vipers and swarmhosts 5 years ago. there is nothing you can do against a nydus thats filled with 6 queens even if you see the fucking thing go up because they made it fucking immortal for the time building. imagine recall making your units immortal for the time. against vipers for example, when going mech you cant afford ghosts and therefore the only way to counter vipers is to constantly suicide 20 vikings to snipe 2-3 vipers before getting obliterated by parasitic bomb and hydras. this approach is the same against mass carriers, cant let protoss get to more than 5-6 or the games over. its as if blizzard doenst even play the game and just makes design decisions only on paper.

Rodrigo Loza same with zerg.... and protoss...
@AiRsTriKeITA6 жыл бұрын
If anything terran is the easiest race for newer players, marines and tanks are good against any unit if your opponent doesn't know how to deal with it, you could say the PvZ matchup is shit for newer players, if you are a protoss and don't know how to build a wall correctly zerglings will easily destroy everything meanwhile with terrans it's a lot easier to build walls since you have supply depots that can be used as gates. Again I'm talking about new players or people that are not good with the game.
@rodrigoloza42636 жыл бұрын
AirstrikeITA you are very right. Even I started with Terran. Then moved to Zerg.
@bbbbende6 жыл бұрын
AirstrikeITA Protoss does have zealots which are fairly less incompetent at protecting unwalled probes though, unlike marines that die instantly
@saschahauser42596 жыл бұрын
Sure the farting overlord was nice, but that was not the reason he lost the game. The attack was happen to fast after he took the 3rd, so it could NOT effect his army supply at the time he attacked. Sorry, but from his prospective he was more right then you. When his combo was for some reason stronger before.. he really could kill you at this time with his push, at least he had a better chance to do so. The real question is, why he is still trying to win a game that way, when he already knew that this timing attack might now work any more after that patch. Also when he says "stream sniping" what he really means is, that people have figured out for a long time, how his playstyle is, and for that, your video is a perfect example. So the realy reason he lost was not the late cc, or any patch, but that you know his playstyle, wait to the last minute to produce fighting supply, and then just in time, produce/move/attack constant roach / hydra from 5 bases... What did he could done better? - Maybe playing bio lol.
@luckygozer6 жыл бұрын
Your first two sentences counter act each other. ''His attack was too fast after his third'' that is reasonable to say but the reason the attack compared to the third was too fast is because his third was massively delayed by the overlord creep. If his third was active 2 minutes earlier would the attack still have been too early? no. There is a big flaw in your strategy if it is a 3 base strategy and an overlord with some creep can delay your third for this long. In his following games an adjustment needs to be made in the strategy for dealing with that overlord. In the game itself if your third is much later then normal you need to be able to adapt to that (easier said then done obv). Which is where i agree with the spirit of your second sentence. Because his third was getting so delayed perhaps he should have attacked later, or stopped building workers and turned it into some 2base all in or whatever. -- As for the stream sniping / knowing your playstyle argument as a streamer, pro gamer, personality. You are in the unfortunate position where people can learn your playstyle and exploit the flaws. This means that high risk high reward builds will be less effective if you keep repeating them. Where as a barcode might have no problem repeating the same cheesy build. However in this game i would argue avilo wasn't going for some plz no scout easily exploitable cheesy strategy. Nor was it a super unique build that only Avilo knows off and Neuro only beat it because he studied Avilo. You wouldn't argue you lost because your opp knew you were going mech or ling bane hydra. Neuro has a speed overlord right over the production in the terrans main at 5:45ish. (Edit: that is game time about 13:12 in the video and if you go a little earlier you can see it fly in from the gold) He knows exactly what his opp is building and how he needs to prepare against because of scouting. And because he most likely faced roughly the same build plenty of times or atleast seen it before.
