An elaborated description of single point cutting tool is given in this video with help of animation. Here the cutting process and basic cutting tool parameters such as back rake angle, side rake angle , relief angles, cutting edge angle and nose radius are explained in a conceptual way.

tanvir kaisar They are just a notation for the main cutting angle and the back relief angle while cutting from the sharp edge of the tool and viewing the tool from the top! Side cut angle is the angle made by the cutting face of the tool with the workpiece and end cut is the relief angle from the auxiliary face of the workpiece! I hope you understand!

A correction: Auxiliary cutting edge and main cutting edge are just exact opposites of each other. Else, everything is great.

What do you mean by 'exact opposites' ? These edges are lines created by intersection of 2 planes with rake surface of the tool.

While your explanation of the parameters is excellent, most of the sources I have seen designate the main and auxiliary cutting edges in precisely the opposite manner at least for lathe tools.
