Growing hydroponically the best method i have found for finding proper nutrient level,,check ph 12 hours after feeding ,,generally if ph spikes not enough nutes if ph drops too much nutes,,hydro grow the sooner you figure this out the sooner your grow starts really being productive

can you explain how ec works in soil or a sterile substrate like coco or rockwool?
@DJTerrellRussell5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for saying that about feeding each day in smaller doses, higher nutrient. I'm in coco doing organics (earth juice) and I keep running into nutrient deficiency. I'm feeding everyother day...I keep forgetting after 2years of using coco don't treat it like soil. Water everyday. But I'm confused really because I'm using organics I understand earth juice is enzyme based but don't they still need time to sorta break down and be used? That's why I'm not feeding everyday. I guessing I'm wrong for not watering each day?
@majorkee30014 жыл бұрын
Terrell Russell are you flushing every couple weeks? Monitoring Ph? Those two things can cause deficiencies if left alone
@junis6654 жыл бұрын
hello can you tell me what i'm doing wrong. I watered the plants according to table ec, much less fertilizer than recommended by the manufacturer. about 1-1.2 ec. In the last watering with clean water about 0.8 ec water that flowed from the pot had ec 2.8-4.0 now I noticed that the leaves have symptoms of excess elements. what to do now? to pour distilled water? How can I avoid it in the future?
@Humbulla933 жыл бұрын
the runoff is higher due to built up nutrients, no do not water with distilled water it leads to even more burns because of the osmosis effect, water them with a fifth strength solution with a 20-30% runoff and be careful that the pot doesn´t sit in the runoff water because the medium will reabsorb it. ps. to avoid it in the future always water with runoff (also do not let it reabsorb) if you do grow in coco or rockwool do not let them dry out completely as it will deposit salts into the medium

What should my ppm be for seedlings my first grow I don't know nothing please help
@anduin14 жыл бұрын
seedlings dont need feed for the first couple weeks. You can gradually start introducing a cal/mag type of feed after that at low rates (~200-300ppm) depending on your grow medium.

My understanding is that organic fertilizer don’t have as much salt or none. Would this mean that a ppm and/or nc a will read differently
@Humbulla933 жыл бұрын
organic fertilizer also do contain ions which are read by the ec media for example lime which has calcium oxide as an ingredient ( calcium being the metal and oxygen the nonmetal) and metals are conductive which are read by the EC meter , except if it´s a substance like urea which is made of nonmetals, also EC is just an indicator as it won´t tell you which ions are present

I have a question about nutrients. If I have 10-10-10 and let's say a 12-18-25, and do an EC test with the result being at 1.2. Are the results the same, or is one stronger in reality? I am getting lost in the trees with all this stuff as I try to figure out what is destroying my plants after the cotyledon leaves drop.
@kortboethig8398 Жыл бұрын
The results are not the same. The EC might be the same but the ratio of your nutrients are different. It's the ratio of your nutrients that is killing your plants. He talks about it at 3:27 in the video.
@generalawareness101 Жыл бұрын
@@kortboethig8398 Ahem, no that doesn't work like that because no nutrient is going to go up to take the place of one the plant is using up.

In My country tab water ppm=616, n Rain water ppm=1848 I want to grow Lettuce (ppm 560-840) if I use tap water it’s middle level but rain water is higher level . I don’t know How to mix solution A &B ? Please help me.
@Humbulla933 жыл бұрын
rainwater shouldn´t have a ppm of 1848, that´s way to high. according to your ppm you would need 18 liters of rainwater and 82 liters of tapwater for a solution of 100 liters with 840ppm for 750ppm you need 11 liters rainwater and 89 liters tapwater

What ppm do you need for growing? High low? Like an average. I've two 3 month plants currently locked out. Done a flush, got ph right but not sure what ppm I need. Ones 450 ish The other was 800 but fished again came Down to 600 then.
@jh7725 жыл бұрын
Cuttings 0.6 ec veg plants 0.6-1.4 flowering plants 1.2-2.0. Depending on environment. A grow with co2, top end lights will allow higher ec.

@@jh772 and depending on plants if we talk about cannabis, "sativas" like a lower EC and "indicas" can tolerate a higher EC, best practice is to have a moderate EC and if they look hungry just raise the EC a bit

@where the chief Yes. A little pH drift in hydroponics is a good thing.
@Humbulla933 жыл бұрын
@@Des420 plants do like consistency of you keep them at a pH of 5,5 they get all their nutes they want besides that all the nutrition is already plant available so they do not need bioprocesse to convert their "food" into a "digestible" form,. but one can use the pH to alter the diet of the plant if they have a toxicity of potassium you can lower the pH so they absorb less potassium without having to change the nutrients
@Des4203 жыл бұрын
@@Humbulla93 There's no reason to chase a magic number. Ph will drift slightly no matter what, and as long as you keep it between 5.5 and 6'ish there's no need to keep making micro adjustments that are worse than a little drift. Availability isn't at a set point, but over a range.
