Wow awesome video. Im from houston texas we have a rottweiller puppy got him at 8weeks now he is 13 weeks and just recently learned about dog fear periods. I you tubed it and your video showed up. Awesome information.

Great video, has helped a lot have gone from having an super confident dog that has not really been spooked or nervous in regards to anything but suddenly a nervous wreck looking at a shop door, loud speaker at a train station even growled at a group of old ladies approaching him. Up till now if there was something he wasn’t sure about his tail would be up and he would investigate that object and then move on. He is 11 months old it was just like 1 day he just started getting spooked. Walking down the street he is a nervous compared to say a couple of days ago. I’m a few days in and hopefully it doesn’t last too long as it’s quiet frustrating and concerning as I want my super confident dog back.

That's was a really good info. My 5 months GSD puppy who comes from the working lines was attacked by 3-4 street dogs and since then he's scared of any dog that growls or barks at him. He starts running in the opposite direction or pulling leash like crazy. How should I help him overcome this? Plz help.

hey, my 8 months old Rhodesian ridgeback boy pup is going through a weird spooky period:( we are living in a big city, so he is pretty much scared of all noises and moving things (bike, scooter, kids, you name it). I understand that its a sensitive period, and I am the soul reason if my doggo develops a bad behaviour that stays after this period. Right now we are trying to keep him home and avoid "scary" noisy situations and going out only for small "toilette walks" (this was our trainers advise, and we do this only until this periods over), but it seems like, every time we go out he is more and more nervous and jumpy. Are we doing the right thing with keeping him away from noise and moving stuff instead of making him get use to it by being around these things, and feeding him and showing him that there's nothing to be worried about?! what would you recommend for this period?

I wouldnt keep him away, I would slowly increase the time he spends outdoors. I also wouldn't treat him unless you are perfectly sure what you are treating him for. If you treat him when he is insecure you are rewarded that behaviour. I would take the dog out and be confident, don't fuss over the dog. Show the dog by your behaviour that there is nothing to be scared of. I would rather ignore the scared behaviour and walk the dog confidently, increasing the period slowly. It might be that your dog is nervous by nature and that is not necessarily the fear period.
