Tripura gave refuge to 4 times its own population during the 1971 war. And in return, that led to the 1981 riots, insurgency and tribals being treated as second class citizens in their own state. The riot led to massacres on both sides not just the tribals killing bengalis, hundreds of tribals were killed too. This all stemmed from lakhs of refugees and their treatment of the indigenous people in their own land.

It's a pity that Indira Gandhi could never admit the scale of the refugee problem India (and especially Tripura) faced because it would mean explaining that 10 Million (100 lakh) Bangladeshis fled a genocide against Hindus and intellectuals by the Pakistani MIlitary and its compliant Islamic hordes. Mrs. Indira was afraid that it would lead to unrest in our country. Tripura is moving towards a dynamic balance btwn Bengalis and indigenous tribal population. The basic requirement for such a dynamic balance to be successful is migration of youth to various parts of India in search of jobs and education. If unemployment is high, then the troubles can start again. Education is key. Awareness of the source of social tensions is critical. Relevant data, AS WELL AS HISTORICAL UNDERSTANDING is fundamental to anticipating these challenges. That's where Deb Barma becomes important. He represents a body of knowledge at the highest policy levels of Pre Independence Tripura. This might be a beneficial alliance provided Deb Barma works at it. Its so disappointing and irrational as to how some of the non-tribals are unable to accept the fact that the indigenous tribals are being marginalised and vulnerable infront of their eyes and yet it shows inhumanity lies nowhere when it comes for own benefits.Also the non-tribals doesnt want to accept the fact more that they were given shelter under the lordship of Maharaja, and tries to manipulate others by saying that they were majority since long back.

Bengali Hindus of East Bangladesh have faced the most brutal massacre which has been either forgotten or ignored. Massacred by Muslims in Bangladesh (their original home), they had to run for their lives and take refuge in India. Within India, they were again massacred by the indigenous tribal population. Unfortunately, nobody talks about this. Only the victims know about these untold suffering.

Time 10:48- you say in 1941, tribal population was 60%; 3. Time 11:35- the line graph of ST share in total population. Eastern part of Bangladesh was never part of India 🤡. India was noting more then a name the British used until 1947, and if you want to talk pre British occupation then there's a whole mess you'll be bring up and isn't really gonna work well in your favour. Just because 'Republic of India' decided to use India in it's name--a word previously used to refer to the Indian subcontinent--this name inclusion doesn't suddenly mean other parts of the sub continent like Bangladesh suddenly historically belonged to India. The ideal scenario is when a immigrants come in, they should be thankful to the people who tool them and assimilate. Absorb tye culture of the place and its language. Like how the Parsi community did maybe. What happened in Assam and Tripura is totally opposite. And the vote bank politics came into play. Today, despite what Tipra may be doing, Tripura is essentially seen as a Bengali state.

in his first term yogi tried to do that with temple going muslims but the issue was existing Hindus were not willing to accept them refusing to marry etc and the project failed. giving hawai statements like reconversion is not going to work as although their ancestors are hindu they are still muslim since past 3 centuries that means 10-15 generations, you can't reverse that. making them believe in rationality by whatever means possible is the way forward in long term

They just said we’re no longer going to be known as East Pakistan--an identity forced on us by Pakistan-- instead going forward as an independent nation we'll be known as Bangladesh, the identity of our ancestors,. This happened on March 26th before the war began and long before India joined us to fight the Pakistanis in the territory of Bangladesh. Bangladesh ALLOWED India to enter THEIR territory as an ally at war against Pakistan--otherwise it would be an act of war by India against Bangladesh. What compels Mr Gupta to cover every step of BJP so diligently and ignore Opposition's grand moves? Your opinion is based on your political vendata. You don't know about the history of Tripura . What you mentioned about the indeginious people , they are not actual indeginious people and what you mentioned about bengalis comes from East Pakisthan or Bangladesh based on communist division theory. Samatat , Rangamati these place name are mentioned in history before BC. Tripura presently recognize 17 nos tribe community some are came from Cacher, Assam around 14th or 15th AD, some tribe came from Mizoram generally Kukis, and others came from Myanmer and they stayed only in the Hilly areas. In the plane land Bengalis were lived before BC. After 14th centuary AD Tribal Kings came in power .During their rule they use bengali as an official language . They understand the importance of education and educated person for smooth running of the newly acuired kingdom. Before 1975 no hostality observed between Bengalis and Tribals , but Communist want power due to thia they are started to create divisions among the communities . They had design the riot plan and executed successfully and create a division among these communities for their political game. Mass killings by Terrorist are influenced by the political party only for their benifit . Do not spreed wrong information Bengalis are coming from Bangladesh or East Pakisthan. You don not know many tribal are reside presently in Bangladesh . Bengalis who are reside in Assam are not similar to Bengalis who are reside in Tripura so do not mess it. Do not spreed wrong information , earlier (during UPA era) you spreed that Indian army trying to march Delhi to overthrough government.
