Many people get their genital herpes results and don't know how to read it properly. There are different numbers on the reports and there is a lot of information floating around the internet about cures and treatments for herpes. But before you start looking into these cures, you need to know whether or not you really have genital herpes. Some people may experience herpes symptoms but it may not always be genital herpes. You should get the area that you believe is genital herpes tested by a doctor so they can take a culture swab of your herpes outbreak.
Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. Millions of people walk around with herpes without experiencing any signs of the STD. Other people will experience several genital herpes outbreaks during their lives.
In this video, I break down the three ranges of genital herpes. I advise that you practice celibacy (refraining from sex until marriage) to prevent yourself from getting any STDs. Another thing you can do for STD prevention would be to protect yourself by using condoms when engaging in any kind of intercourse. Whether that is oral, anal, or vaginal sex.

@@Alisha_Mariiee you'll have to get another blood test to check if you do have it. You can be exposed and not have it, but check with your doctor to get the official results

@@silentlyflourish HI there, I have done an hsv pcr urine test a month ago both hsv1 and hsv 2 was not detected, last week I did hsv serology test hsv1 and hsv2 Igg came back negative and Hsv1+2 Igm came back positive, my last possible exposure was 5 months ago. Any suggestions?

I’m so scared and desperate for answers. About 6 to maybe 8 months ago, i experience genital sores and burning urination. I did go get tested and my tests were negative. A doctor examined me and didn’t say, ”Yup, looks like herpes.” I honestly can’t remember if I had another outbreak after that. Anyways, I got tested again a week ago and I tested positive. I’m having a hard time understanding my doctor, I was wondering if anybody has had something similar as me and maybe can please share? I desperately need help understanding this because emotionally and mentally, I’m losing it.

I would say not to worry if you aren't getting any outbreaks and you have been in a monogamous relationship. Chances are you haven't contracted the virus. But be sure to follow up with your health care provider to see those test results on paper

How can someone have antibodies if they don't have the virus. I don't understand why doctors would say "only get tested if you have an outbreak". Like if anyone has high antibodies and every single thing online says herpes is forever, like is there really any chance that they don't have herpes, I don't understand!

You can be exposed to the virus but the virus not overtake your body. Your immune system can fight it off

It's super common for people to test positive for the antibodies especially if they've had the chickenpox vaccine, chicken pox, shingles, or mono. Positive for antibodies is not clinical evidence of having the actual virus. I've been told this by like 3 doctors.

@@brotaku8619 under 0.9 is usually a negative result. 0.9-1.10 is in the equivocal or middle range which means you’ve Been exposed. The tell tale sign would be an outbreak. That’s when you know you’ve been exposed

Hey great video. I noticed you mentioned the IgG test and saying that it isn't as accurate. Are you sure you didn't mean the IgM test? Because online results say that IgG is super accurate (90%) ?

She is positive for oral herpes. Many people get oral herpes from things like kissing or sharing drinks. She may never experience cold sores in her life. Everyone's immune system is different.

My igg index for hsv 2 antibodies was 1.18 the last person i was with like 3 months ago and my ex 7 months ago i told them both to get tested for the actual virus not just the antibodies amd they both showed results were negative for all herpes and there doctors said they were sure it wasnt in them i had chicken pox when i was younger and i dont have any symptoms at all so im going to do an igg inhibition test tomorrow im hoping i dont have it but theres no way they both can be neagtive and im positive so here's hoping its negative 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Was the outbreak painful? Abnormal can be another way of stating that you are positive. If you fell within the normal range that means you would be negative.

Equivocal means you were exposed and most people who test in the equivocal range end up testing negative after some time

That's a pretty high number. Be careful when having intercourse because you can pass it along even if you have no visible outbreak. Also get retested to make sure that you are positive

I know it’s a long shot because this video is so old but my hsv1 level is negative and hsv2 tested a 10.4 … any help on interpretation would be great . My doctor is out of the office for two weeks so I have my test results with no guidance until then and I’m wiggin out about it tbh

While you wait for your doctor to come back into office, don't worry too much (I know, easier said than done) but try to keep your mind off the test results. Mines test positive for both. And I was shocked because I’ve never had an outbreak or mild symptoms I drink coffee sugary foods and I’ve been stressed lately and still no outbreak I can’t even tell you what it feels like even my partner hasn’t said anything about it and my sons father said he never had an outbreak either I asked him. Hey, this is a positive number so you'll have to be careful to not have sex when you have an active outbreak or anything like that. Also avoid outbreaks by reducing stress

So i had weird experience. I got tested got the call that i was clear and then 2 weeks later the nurse called… and told me i had hsv 1 & 2 and that my numbers were low. I never got retested i just accepted my fate got out the streets. But it’s been a year since the test and i have had no symptoms, no outbreaks and this video randomly popped up on my timeline so i guess it’s time to retest.

Hey, so if you were having an outbreak that means that your doctor should have given you some medication to help reduce the time the outbreak would be present. Your IgG numbers show that you are positive for genital herpes however, don't let this cause you to get depressed or anything like that because over time symptoms and outbreaks decrease with age and with proper maintenance and care of your body

Some people's IGG numbers fluctuate. Your viral load can be different depending on many different factors such as stress, diet, lifestyle. The lower your viral load, the smaller your chance of an outbreak but you are still carrying the virus

I gotten tested four times (IGG) First time March 30, 2021: 0.95 HSV-1 High (I know you said it’s equivocal range) Second time April 5, 2021: Negative HSV-1 Third time July 30, 2021: 0.95 High again HSV-1 Fourth time August 10, 2021: Negative again HSV-1… even though I thought I was having an outbreak because I had a body ache, headache, inside of left cheek felt a little numb/weird, and maaany tiny-tiny bumps on the roof/soft palate of my mouth but no pain nor itchiness and two tiny white fluid bumps (that appeared on my bottom lip at different times (left side of bottom lip and middle of bottom lip)) but no pain nor itchiness either and another tiny bump under my tongue (frenulum)… I want to say it was from something I ate but idk I of course am shook and worried and want to take the test again… what do you think?

This video was speaking specifically about HSV2 outbreaks. If you have HSV1 it presents itself as cold sores usually. You can retested if you would like but HSV1 is extremely common. People get it from things like kissing and sharing utensils. I think the World Health Organization says over 90% of people have HSV1.

@@ismaelgonzalez1763 it takes that much time for antibodies to start producing your body. Usually if you are infected it will travel down to the spine base and you'll have an outbreak within days

UTI is different from the herpes virus. If you never had an outbreak you can be asymptomatic

Hi so I got a full panel done because a girl I was with said she got chlamydia, my results came back negative on everything except for herpes. IgG blood result said 5.4 of hsv1 and 5.1 for hsv 2, I am a little confused because I’ve never had an outbreak and everyone I’ve asked who I could have gotten it from says that they’re clean. Do you think it could be a wrong result or are one of these girls lying about their STD status? Just looking for answers and clarity

Some people are asymptomatic and may be carrying the virus and not even know it. Doctors say it doesn't make sense to figure out who you got it from if you've had multiple partners because people may have it, be shedding, be asymptomatic, etc. there's a lot of varying factors. I would recommend you follow up with a Western Blot test to get your results verified.

Im starting IVF using a surrogate and had to have My CMV blood test. My igg come back positive and igm was equivocal? I have had no out outbrake. What I understood about CMV was it was related to the herpes family like cold sore and chicken pox but not a gentail herpes.

Which supplemental test did you take? If its the western blot test, I would say to confirm with your doctor which one is it. CDC has updated its testing measures. I'm dropping a video soon on that

Yes, it is. It can be a false positive. I would say to get retested in a few months if you haven't had an outbreak to see if you are still positive

Hey, so hsv1 is something that can be spread through kissing and sharing drinks. It isn't necessarily a STD. That is a positive number I believe but if you show no symptoms you have a lesser chance of spreading it to someone via kissing or sharing drinks

You could be asymptomatic, your viral load is pretty low.

Hi, yes that is postive. It's a low positive number. I recommend that you get a Western blot test to confirm. In the meantime, please talk to your recent partner to find out if they tested positive recently.

No those viruses are completely different. I would say to retest in the future. If you test positive again then that means you have it and you are asymptomatic

Hmmm...I tested as a 1.59 (IgG test) for HSV2, but have had no outbreaks, in fact I feel great; Looking back, possible exposure was in August and it's now end of December. It's interesting because after I found out about possible exposure, I tested two weeks later and was negative, but then just tested again and was positive. While your video is reassuring, I think false positives on IgG tests are very low...it's almost guaranteed your result is accurate. However, I've also had chicken pox as a kid and got mono last year, so while it highly doubt either of those affected the test, it's possible.

The only guarantee that you have herpes is having an active outbreak, having your provider swab the culture to test for HSV2 antibodies. You can try retesting again if you don't have an outbreak within a few months.

It’s been 1.5 years since I had sex (on a vacation) About a month after it I started noticing small bumps on my penis shaft which never went away and itchyness in my penis pretty often. And this has never stopped. I just went in to get tested for all stds and they all came back negative. I am so confused of what I might have, I was 100% sure I had herpes but was too embarrassed to get tested til now

@@kalinwilliams2781 believe it or not I went to a second testing place (planned parenthood), (first place was lab corp) and they did a swab on my bumps and never called me back, but they had told me no news is good news and they would only call me if it was positive for herpes. She told me it didn’t look like herpes because it was red instead of white and when she touched it with gloves on I didn’t feel pain and she said when herpes bumps are touched it usually hurts a lot but my bumps never hurt. She told me it looked more like jock itch (times Curis) so I bought an over the counter jock itch spray at Walmart and I’ve been spraying it twice a day and now the bumps are basically completely gone and the itching has gone down so much. There is now a big discolored spot where the bumps used to be (looks as if I got burned or something) I asssume now it just has to heal and will go back to normal. I am very happy with the fact that it no longer itches like before. The spray is called lotrimin. Please try this and let me know how it goes

I think that people need to relax like more most ppl have herpes as kid some of my friends would have out brake around mouth they still do. So herpes is not so bad haves very bad stigma. But most ppl are not very well educated on this specific in USA. So even if u have one you still have normal life normal sex family and ETD. So just take breed and relax ok. For record I don't have one but would be okay date some who haves at. But then again I am European and we get more educated on this and many other things. Remember your life is not over even have u have herpes

My HSV-1 IgG is 13.3. The DNA through PCR from blood is not detected (not swabs). Is there any chances to be false positive? The doctor prescribed me antiviral anyway.
