This song, to me, is safety. When I first played Undertale, I had a bad home situation, constantly walked on eggshells, and stayed awake at night in fear. I saw Toriel as the mum I didn't have at that time, so I would sit back, eyes closed, and pretend I was living in Home, as a lost child Toriel was caring for. It helped me through a lot of sleepless nights.

I made a promise with my grandmother before she died, i promised her that i would visit her room sometimes, its all still here, her clothes, her TV, and a photo; Its me, my mother and my grandmother, sitting on the couch, I know that she is still there, she hasnt left me yet, She remains there i know, but i cant see her. Everytime i play a route in undertale and i enter into Toriel's house, i turn back my head and i watch my grandmother's room for a minute, i still remember when she played and take care of when my mom was working out of the city, i remember that she learned me to cook, i remember that she awakened me in the mornings to give me breakfast, and then go to school, I still remember her eyes, they where saying "Everything is gonna be ok..." I love the way the tempo is kind of off at some parts, it gives it a charming imperfect feel. Like a child is clumsily playing to their adoring parent.

This is the song my wife walked down the aisle to. It’s the song we first napped together to. It’s the song I learned to play piano for, just I could surprise her someday with it. This is our song, and it always will be. I love Undertale, and I’m so thankful to Toby Fox for making this brilliant piece. I used to be so attached to my grandma. Life was so fun at her house, and I would occasionally play with my relatives and neighbors there. It was the only fun place I had, in fact. School life wasn't so kind to me back in the days, and my schoolmates were kinda.. harsh on me. But at my grandma's it was really fun! My uncle would always play with me, my aunts were so kind to me, and especially my grandma. She was the real definition of shelter, angel, and home to me. She would listen to any rants I would say, and defend me when I got scolded by my parents. She would make me popsicles and watermelon cakes just because she knew I'd spend all my time praising her for that masterpiece. She would be always my first go-to when I was sick, and she would play games of anything I asked her to play with me. She was the kindest, but she passed away and I felt so so so so guilty and sad and bad for not visiting her on her sickly condition just because I was sick too. When I listen to this music in particular, I can vividly image her smile on my mind. How I miss her smile. Thank you, grandma. I still miss you so bad.

Majority of the comments here are sad and depressing memories had and how this song brightens their day, so I'll just leave this for diversification: This song doesn't hold a special meaning to me or anything, but the melody is touching. After me and my gf (now wife) moved in together into a new home, I felt so independent and happy, I've finally achieved something on my own that doesn't benefit only me, but the person I care about the most. It simply reminds me of the first few days of living together, I'd get up, prepare us breakfast, she'd make lunch, and then we both go to work. Coming back home together, we'd both make dinner, watch movies, even play games with our new neighbourhood friends, or sometimes play video games together. After she broke her leg, she knew I didn't care that she won't be able to work anymore, she knew I'd do it instead of her, and I'd do it again. It makes me happy to finally help someone out properly, and maybe I'll soon have someone else who I'll raise to help others :) Finally, there's not just "me", but "us"

I was in my room, studying, while listening to this song. All of a sudden, I looked out the window and appreciated the beauty of life.

This song will always remind me of my Mom, who was very much like Toriel. Caring, kind, reassuring, & trying to protect me from the harshness of the world, in her own way. She would often surprise me with my favorite foods. Would read to me a lot when I was younger. Even just a few months ago, we'd just talk about everything and anything, just because we could. We didn't always see eye-to-eye, but she knew I loved her, and I know she loved me more than words can even describe. It's been 8 months since she passed unexpectedly in her sleep. I still cry everyday thinking about her. She was and will always be my "home". Thank you for making my first 22 years of life so enjoyable and full of memories I will look back fondly on. Every once and a while I call Toriel, she never answers. Maybe one day she will...

This made me think about something I've never shared so, prepare for a vent random stranger. I remember watching a playthrough in 2015 and practically begging my best friend at the time to play it. Nobody else in our friendship group got it and I didn't want to be left out so I pretended to hate it too. In school I'd call her a loser and make fun of her to fit in, but at home we would spend hours building our minecraft server empire and talking about undertale lore in the chat. Our entire minecraft world for our undertale pixel art. The hours we would spend together, sending back and forth undertale memes, talking like Tem, sharing our art and appreciating this game. Even when our phones got taken away, we'd email each other. She'd show me her newest story or a blog post she was really proud to have written. I'd show her a youtube video I made on my small minecraft channel and make trailers for our server. Reading through those now feels bittersweet. Unfortunately, at school, her treatment got so bad that it drove her to take a grammar school test. She wanted out, away from me, away from people who made everything harder for her. She wouldn't play on the server to study, she wouldn't text me, and we drifted apart. Then, she left. Random story right? And, I know what I did was wrong, I really do. In fact, after she left, these "friends" started making fun of me instead. Just knowing I inflicted that much pain on such an amazing person still breaks my heart. If I could go back and talk to me from 2015 I'd probably just go off on her about common decency, haha. And if you ever happen to stumble across this, thank you. I know it's been a long time and I wish I could tell you all of the things I never got to. But I could never find something to describe how these memories made me feel. Now I do. Home.

Undertale and omori are the two games that have had the biggest impact on my life. Undertale brought me out of a horribly, awful depressive period shortly after i had tried and failed to take my own life. I was so horribly anxious and depressed I wanted it to end. Then undertale came out, and I played it all in one night. It changed me, it made me want to connect with people more. And i got alot better. Omori very recently changed me. Despite undertale helping me, I still promised myself if my life ever got agonizingly hard again, I would try to take my life again. Seeing the pain, even through video game characters, that the loss of a truly loved one brought upon everyone helped me realize how many people cared about me. I wont be taking my life if things get hard. I will live for the people I love.

Damn, I haven't posted any comments on this account in ages, but I need to get this off my chest somewhere. My mom is getting into Undertale as of very recently and loves the soundtrack, which I am extremely excited about. I just got done traveling up to my dad's place in another state. Today I woke up and saw she sent me a link to this video. It's the first thing she's texted me since I got here (besides asking if I got there at all, of course). I don't know why, but I started crying when I heard the first minute of it. I think it just made me realize that I miss her more easily than I even realize by communication through the soundtrack. After Etika passed, I just found myself unable to listen to this anymore. It hurts me in such a spiritual way. I always associate Undertale with Etika, it was through him that I first became aware of it. I can't move on and it's just killing me inside. I miss him greatly to put it under the most blanketed statement possible. I can't put into words how deeply I was cut by his passing. I really cannot listen to Undertale's soundtrack anymore without thinking of him. Is that a blessing or a curse? He always said that he didn't love us. I think that was a bluff. Damn, I’ve been crying for nearly an hour straight because of this song. Reminds me of all the hours I spent playing this game with my old friend, how we stayed up till 4 trying to beat Muffet, or listening to the soundtrack on the bus rides to school. My partner passed away on July 15th of this year, and this song always makes me think of him. The happiness he gave me and how much he made me smile. I'll never forget him, and he'll always be in my heart.

My dad passed away on October 29th of 2020 after nearly a decade of battling a terminal illness that he should have lost to long before then. He was very well known in the community, hundreds of people paid their respects and I delivered his eulogy. Over those five days, two of my friends drove and stayed with me throughout the process. One of them brought his nintendo switch and the hand-full of games he had on it. One of those games was Undertale. I had played it before, but I replayed the pacifist ending during the few free hours I had amidst entertaining guests and funeral preparations. This game is and always will be one or my favourite game ever. When i first discovered undertale was when I was little like 9 or 10 I believe. So I was on KZfaq and I saw this amv, it was undertale shattered amv and I was like "OH WHAT iS THAT PERSON EATING "? So i clicked on it (Note I did not know what undertale was at the time) and I was like who's that goat guy???? To asgore lol, so anyway a year or two passed and I forgot about that amv. Then in grade 5 we were making this this project and I thought that my one friend might get into undertale (which I didn't like it really at the time for some reason) and guess what!? She got into undertale!!! Wow so shocking! Lol. Then in grade 6 I stared to get into undertale then I watched a play through of the game, and i also made wierd paper versions of the characters (fun fact i still have them they are so funny looking lol) then I convinced my mom to get the game for me and from then on i have loved undertale. I remember when undertale came out, i was in 7th grade and all my friends loved it as much as i did. Im a senior in high school now and wow, looking back makes me feel so incredibly nostalgic... it was like 4 or 5 years ago. I love this song so much. I love undertale. I'm stressed at the moment, the school year has just started (for me), I don't know anyone in most of my classes, and my anxiety is getting really bad. I've been crying a lot, my parents got divorced at the end of last year and I'm still so upset about it. I'm already shy and introverted, and adding anxiety to the mix has just made it worse. I'm also a teenager, so I'm always having weird mood swings and shit because of that. I'm finding it so difficult to make friends, and the friends I already have well, I'm getting bored of them. They're loud, obnoxious and extremely rude. I'm not myself around them and I hate it. I hate myself so much right now. And the thing is, people have it so much worse than me, and I hate myself even more for thinking my problems are worse than theirs. A couple of weeks ago, I found out about undertale. And it was amazing. I became attached to the characters, and realized that I didn't want to live in this world, I wanted to live in the underground. Finishing the game left me with a weird, nostalgic feeling that I can't put my finger on. I had hope, happiness, determination. I was happy, I had lead the characters to an ending that involved no killing or sadness. But I was sad. I didn't want the journey to end, I didn't want to leave my friends (lmao why r u calling these fictional characters ur friends wot a nerd). But, like all the good things in life, I had to let them go. Yesterday, I started undertale again, and I can't wait to finish it. And finally, this song. This sad, feelsy, happy song that makes me cry tears of joy. I love it so much. I listen to it when I'm drawing, reading, or just relaxing. It brings me peace and joy, and makes me feel as though Toriel is encouraging me, telling me to do my best and not any more or less. I love my own mother, she's a strong, kind and radiant woman who is basically the sun like she's sO NICE. But, I love Toriel in a different way. My mother pushes me out of my comfort zone. You know a designer has done one heck of a good job when you can actually relate to the character and start wanting to stay with it, even if that means not advancing in the game at all. Personally, I believe that Goatmom here is (for me) the best character in the game. In such little time she manages to truly become a motherly figure. The pacing was excellently written: The developer gives us a child avatar, something feeble, throws it into an unknown, scary underground world and makes us face a deceptive devil, all in one go. Making Toriel appear right there and writing her lines to sound as warm as possible towards the player at the time she takes all the care in the world about you, really help establishing a connection with her. I must admit, by the time I got to her house and had my slice of pie, I was truly looking forward to stay there, should that be an option. When I had to leave, I actually backtracked all the way to the beginning and it still took me a few minutes to decide to leave the ruins. I haven't finished the game, but those few minutes were what sold me into playing it till the end. I just hope I can see Toriel again. For now, I'll continue my endeavors of getting to the end without killing anything
