Wahoo is found throughout the world’s tropical and sub-tropical waters. Wahoo spawns seasonally in the sub-tropics and year-round in tropical waters. This reproductive behavior, coupled with the fact that it matures early and can produce half a million to 45 million eggs, makes wahoo naturally resilient to fishing pressure. Their maximum age remains a mystery, though they are known to live at least five years. Days like this are very rare and seem magical when happening. I, for one, love fishing and respect conservation. However, there is no better feeling than having a day like this and providing all of your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors and their families with fresh wahoo filets. I always get asked for filets when I fish and typically don't have enough to feed 20 other people (after splitting with the guys I fish with). cut the engines, fight the fish. this shit takes all the fun out of fishing. got a 40 punder wahoo off of the taganga bay in Colombia on a panga style boat with a 40 yamaha engine with a nasty sea. now that's fishing.

Sure glad I fish wahoo from San Diego long range vessels. Four anglers troll and the vessel slides to a stop to land troll hooked fish. You and wahoo one on one. You crank fast to keep your fish hooked. Sure you lose a few but that’s fishing. Once the vessel stops that’s when the real fun begins. Tossing iron or live bait with 30-50 lb gear. Following the wahoo up the rail. Working with other anglers on the rail. You can keep your high speed trolling for wahoo. And you wonder why wahoo fishing is usually poor. Try keeping a few and not everything that hits the lure.

I DO SEE it is not like the commercial netters raping the ocean AND I also see it is not really what most of us think as "sport" fishing. The boat does not even slow down. I don't "have a problem" with it. Just wish they could cut the engine and fish with maybe 40 pound class gear, steel leaders and have a good fight, instead of basically roping them in while the boat keeps going. Not as much fun--is that ok to say?

The rules in the Bahamas are each foreign VESSEL (not each person, each BOAT) is allowed to have on board no more than 20 POUNDS of fish on board. So several of the commenters are correct, this is not a video about fishing, it is a video about POACHING! If the world was a fair place the next time these rich idiots tried to check in to the Bahamas they would be arrested and have their boat seized. Also great teaching the kid how the rules only matter for those "other people". It's sad really. The first shot brags about how they spent $5000 on gas. I guess they figure that entitles them to kill fish that I think still works out to something like $50 a pound.

First of all I have to agree with MOST of the posters here. There was no need to keep that many Wahoo, and I sure as hell hope that Marlin survived but since I saw no evidence of it swimming away I can only assume it didn't make it due to the "importance" of the photo op. Now for the "fishing." Pressing a button on an electric reel sitting in a rod holder is hardly sport fishing so those cheering trip of a life time obviously have little clue. I lived 5 years in the Bahamas, caught plenty of fish including a 2nd place for a 448 lb Blue Marlin. You want to sport fish, find another boat and captain; one that either has a fighting chair, or stand-up rods and fuck those electric reels unless your just going to grab a few for dinner, especially deep drops. This vidio should be called, gaffing 101, there certainly wasn't any real fishing in the video.

First you are allowed 18 pelagic fish per vesselin the bahamas and I see at least 20 on the dock. so if i was you, I would not brag about infriging the law right on youtube. Second I think that using electric reels takes out the word sport of "sport fishing"

Way too many fish to keep. I am avid fisherman and going to Bahamas is 2 weeks. I have no problem with beautiful day on the water fishing with family and friends but way too many wahoo kept. This video made me sick as a fisherman. not to mention the electric reels while sport fishing...come on

Thats a Great day. We use basic gear. Electric reals are for the rich. People bitching about all these fish caught and kept haven't a fucking clue. I Guarantee not one whoo was wasted. One of the best tasting fish in the ocean right there. Its not commercial fishing and having a family of five this catch is gone in a few weeks at the table.
