The thing about the doc that made it a great one for me was the fact that the negative aspects of MJ we hear about such as his gambling, perceived bullying depending on how one sees it, the way he drove the ship, and the way he led from a position of intimidation as many said. Or something like how he was asked to use his platform to get involved socially like with endorsing that political candidate which he had declined to do and his open discussion about it. For me the decision they made to not hide from those things and be frank about them led to me seeing his point of view about those things and whether I agreed or not it allowed for me to at least understand his rationale and I personally didn’t feel those things came with malice which I think shapes them. So for me it made him look better to me but if he’d tried to diminish those things or if they hid from them I would’ve seen him in a negative light. In the end all of that stuff happened so at this stage you own it, explain how you saw it, and let people form their own opinion.

No. Two things cannot be true at the same time. It violates the law of non-contradiction. Nothing can both be and not be, at the same time, in the same respect. It's either one or the other. In regards to this excoriation about Michael being a bully, Shannon is right definitonally speaking. Although, the context in which the bullying was manifested was from teammate to teammate. The intent to bully was to make players better. The outcome justified the means of the intent. This is why the vast majority of teammates who played with Michael don't interpret the brow-beating as malicious. I wonder what Shannon would say about Popovich. He certainly typifies bullying in the way it is perceived by how Michael bullies. What about trash talk? That can be interpreted as bullying. I guess trash talking to your best friend while playing a game is also something that Shannon ostensibly fines reprehensible. Get out of here Shannon. Go Skip!

I love documentary. The stories that were revealed, like Jordan somewhat losing to a team and watching a certain opponent scroing a higher number then jordan. Jordan would then makeup a certain story of how that opponent whispered something offensive to him after the game. That motivated jordan, even going as far as making up a story to get him to game mode and beating his opponents to where its more then revenge. Its just pure dominance. Thats what made jordan psychotic and the greatest of all time.

MJ's leadership style wouldn't work in today's NBA because of the way society has shifted. What today they call "toxic masculinity" is what MJ displayed. He wasn't a "bully", he just had a very strong, often offensive way of speaking & acting toward those he didn't see were at his level. I'm Oldschool, so I'm perfectly fine with how he spoke & acted, but my nephew reacts completely different than me, because he's growing up in a society where everything MJ stood for (an unapologetic alpha male) is frowned upon in today's Western societies. I do agree with a lot that Unc Shay said, but he's also one of those woke bros who must adhere to all social norms in order to appease his fans

@@jfail00 I've never played sports at a professional level, or even at a high level, so I can't honestly say what I'd be willing to put up with. It's hard for regular people to insert their current selves into a situation like that. Just to make it to the pros, you have to have a strong sense of team work, taking direction & often deferring to the team leader. The team leader often gets away with doing & saying whatever they want, but usually because they can back it up. Sports is the last frontier where pecking order & physical dominance still reigns supreme, where the biggest/fastest/strongest & most talented are not only rewarded BIG TIME, but are praised.
