Jordan Peterson's Hillsdale College Commencement Address in 2022 - Orginal Upload: • Jordan B. Peterson | 2...
This speech delivers on what we all love Jordan Peterson for:
His captivating speaking style, profound insights, and unmatched ability to weave together different concepts and narratives into a compelling and beautiful picture.
In this speech, Jordan Peterson delves into the profound themes of choice, responsibility, and personal growth at life's inevitable crossroads. Peterson eloquently discusses how each decision shapes our destiny, urging us to aim upward rather than succumb to lower temptations. He emphasizes the importance of truth, courage, and ethical living as foundations for a meaningful life. But you probably could have guessed all that.

@@lindsaytwort8655 I'm not sure why any thinking person would give heed to the imperfect opinions of some ignorant psychology professor. There are a handful of EXTREMELY wise sages currently on this planet who can logically and completely answer practically any question that an intelligent soul is likely to ask regarding morals and ethics. The fact that Jordan supports men buggering each other (by which I mean, that he supports homosexuality and other criminal activities, such as the unnecessary consumption of poor innocent animals) is MORE than sufficient proof that he is not as religious as he claims, and that any decent, holy person ought to shun his inane teachings and flee into the loving arms of a teacher of Truth. Furthermore, in a recent interview in Benjamin Shapiro's KZfaq channel, he admitted that his wife figuratively (and I'm sure also LITERALLY) wears the pants in his household. 👖 I would be more than pleased to provide you with links to the KZfaq channel of a few enlightened beings who will quickly set you on the path to perfection, as opposed to the DELUDED moral subjectivism professed by "Doctor" Peterson (pun not intended). Please find below a couple of such ENLIGHTENED masters to which I referred above: Professor Alan Watts (now deceased, so he doesn't have his own KZfaq channel - just search for his videos on numerous channels) Swami Sarvapriyananda (kzfaq.info or search for "Vivekananda Samiti") Jagadguru Svāmī Vegānanda: kzfaq.info

I’ve started listening to and learning from Jordan since 2018, and this one resonates with me so deeply that I cannot hold my tears back. At 35, I am at another crossroad in my life, even though I’ve got a good family and a promising career. I’ll need to summon up the courage and face myself honestly, draw my future vision, and then move forward in the right direction.

My dear husband was an astrophysics. He admired astronauts, f.ex. He did mean, that's life is about learning to handle fear. That's the task Number ONE. The Task Number TWO is, never lose your moral compass. You are never victim. You have allways the choice. And everything else will come to you.

Well done for re-presenting this (with much better audio, it should be said). I think many of us felt that, hearing/seeing that speech in it's original upload, it was indeed one of the finest speeches ever. It is a much 'better' listen here and, as you say, thoroughly deserves a much wider attention and recognition than it has enjoyed so far.

The greatest point that Jordan Peterson was trying to put across was not to find any reason to comfort yourself in not doing good or great but rather whatever the situation trying to stand above that situation and do at least some great thing never to let yourself to do less in life as you go out there in society since you are done with school......

Mending relationships is definitely good advice. But it takes two willing participants, open mindedness and letting go of resentfulness on both side. If one is not willing to let go, it is a futile endeavor. When it comes to finding love, most are interested in hook ups and not healthy relationships. If you are not willing to follow the flow, you might be alienated. Life is extremely complicated at times. People who has never experienced trauma have a philosophy of life very different than those who had.

The passion and truthfulness in this man. Yet people bitterly oppose him, students who regard themselves to be the cream of society riot on campuses to shut him up. Why? What is wrong with what he says? And just because they abandoned their first attempt at Babel, does not mean we gave up trying. Check this idea that we can and should control the climate. Really? Faith? When I get into an aeroplane , I do so with faith in the pilots and the engineers who built the thing. That is not irrational faith in the unprovable is it?

Well, that sun will rise tomorrow and well all will have another day. There is no black oblivion after death. There is no yesterday or tomorrow, only this eternal fleeting moment. So, with that in mind, maybe we can all try to make it as happy and joyous as we can. Gods will is for all sentient beings to be in heaven, we were not put here by an angry czar of the heavens to suffer, but by a loving forgiving God who would die for our sins. "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." I do not consider that to be an abstract concept to be pondered by the intellectual mind. But a simple statement of reality. Like saying the sky is blue and the grass is green. I have a dream of what kind of life I want to live that would make me happy. And they will have to kill me before I will give up the pursuit of happiness. As it is one of my certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. And those rights were not given to me by any man, government, school, ideology, or culture. They were given to me by my creator.

I think we have to know what questions to ask ourselves when we are at a crossroad. I don’t think I know what questions to ask. What is the greatest good -how can we know? Or do we reach according to our current understanding and the way becomes clearer? What if climate change is an exaggeration and all these dedicated young environmentalists are on the wrong path?. Seems like a good goal. But perhaps the goal should be smaller and more local…

Incredible speech, but it’s honestly not even Peterson’s best stuff. His lecture series on Genesis lays out the psychological significance of the biblical narrative and it is laced with deep and profound insights throughout. For that lecture series alone, in my mind, he should go down as one of the most important intellectual figures of the 21st century.
