Unearthing a Cthulhu Relic (Lovecraftian ASMR)

7 жыл бұрынHave you been dreaming again? Or has the staff at Arkham Sanitarium helped dredge up an old forgotten memory from the dark and dusty cellar of your subconscious?
Whatever the source of this imagery may be, it appears that you find yourself with a fellow undergraduate student at Miskatonic University. You and your classmate have been charged with the task of examining some of the rubble that was brought back from an archaeological expedition to the Himalayan mountains.
You are merely an observer here, as your counterpart does most of the work examining, collecting samples and taking (strange) notes of the various types of ancient gravel and stones retrieved from amid the cyclopean ruins found bordering a vast rift deep within the aforementioned mountains.
Towards the end of this observation, it appears that your colleague (classmate, or... professor?), along with the help of your own memories or voices whispering in your head, unearth a strange artifact, be it idol or effigy. It bares the same resemblance to the blasphemous creature found among the other prized collections at the university, which has been given the name: Cthulhu.
Unfortunately by this time, you either cannot recall any further details of this memory or dream, or you are merely too tired to find what has become of the artifact, and you...

What is ASMR? It is both a sensation and a medium.
ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current, non-scientific name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering, personal attention or watching someone perform a task. It's like goosebumps, but much more pleasant.
ASMR videos are meant to intentionally help induce this sensation, also referred to as "tingles", but also provide a relaxing, calming, soothing, therapeutic and even entertaining experience for the viewer.
Many people who do not experience ASMR still enjoy the videos for their calming and sleepy effect.

I think he would have been pleased. Lovecraft had a lot of sleep problems (night terrors, sleep paralysis, that sort of thing), and he often wrote about sleep and dreams, so he would have liked the idea that his stories would eventually inspire some of these “moving pictures” that help people relax and fall asleep.

As an unearthing professional myself, I can say for a fact this is how we actually work on the field. Instead of using real languages, we whisper words that are hard to understand. Due to this fact, we often just assume what the other person is talking about. And, despite popular belief, we don't actually dig up relics in the ground! We use sandpits and place the relics in there, only to dig them up moments later. It gives us a false feeling of accomplishment. Anyways, great video. I'll show it to all my friends.

This is one of my favorite video's that you've made. I love the near inaudible whispering you're doing where I can catch a few words here and there but most is low and unintelligible. @@OneStarfish Herbert West Reanimator, The Hound, The Horror at Redhook, or The Call of Cthulu would be my recommendations. Be aware that while Lovecraft was a master of the genre and his impact upon subsequent writers is undisputable...he was also hugely racist. Go in with open eyes. He was a brilliant writer, but a massively flawed human being.

I just had to say this since I’ve been watching this channel for about 2 and 1/2 years now. THIS video. This one video has always WITHOUT FAIL made me sleep. Having bouts of insomnia brought on by stress can really effect me hard but ever since this video came out it has this magical ability to just cannon-fire me into slumber. This is the only channel I listen to while I try to sleep or relax. Ephemeral Rift is so creative and out of the box! You can find almost anything you like here. This channel deserves to have more attention.

Holy crap!!!!! This might be a very l8 comment (hey I started reviewing a little to late anyway) but this is single handedly the best asmr I’ve seen and heard in a long time. The writings good the rocks/ hands rubbing against each other is good. And especially the gibberish audio over the video. Absolutely beautiful my man E. R. absolutely beautiful. 10/10 would listen to again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.🍊

update: am hearing things like "expedition," "geometry," "strange disturbances," "short term memory," & something about how the gravel/sand/rocks might be minerals or salt?? "listen closely," "the old ones," & then later quite close together: "take heed & pay attention," "take one step," "these warnings are important, you understand" these are all very interesting comments that i've picked up.. intriguing if anyone has anything to add, i'd love to hear it
