Unearthing A Treasure Trove At The Ultimate Bottle Dump Site!

Today we go back to the river-side bottle dump I recently discovered and search for old vintage bottles, coins, buttons, and other artifacts. This bottle dump dates to about the 1920s and is loaded with unbroken bottles. I dig until I get a backpack full and then call it a day. It doesn't take long although I did make this video pretty long since some of you guys seem to want longer videos. I hope you enjoy the video.

At around the 13 minute mark that square cast iron item was thought to be a stove/ heating element is a cast iron bank safe with the door missing used as a child’s piggybank .

Happy New Year, Beau. Thanks for the New Year's Day gift of posting! Unexpected. It's been years since I've done any dump digging, but I still recall a distinct odor from the ashes of burned trash. I've always loved the old glass. Had a catastrophe a few years ago when movers broke the original bubbled glass in an old display case. They couldn't understand why their replacement wasn't the same. I've always loved the bubbles, colors, and unique shapes of the old glass. Of course, I still love anything handmade or hand-painted. Understand why you didn't want to post this until you were able to go back to finish the job. Thanks again, Beau, as I look forward to a great year of adventures. BTW, the one small milk bottle reminded me of those we had in school back in the dark ages (50s).

The Capudine bottle came from the Capudine Chemical Co. out of Raleigh NC, and was used for pain relief in low-grade headaches and neuralgia. It contained Antipyrine, caffeine bromides, salicylates, and “other ingredients”. Pulled from the Smithsonian’s American History Museum website. Neat bottle!

What fun dig! The “baby stove” you showed us at abt 12:56 was part of a kids cast iron bank made to look like a little safe. ( door missing but you could still see coin slot in the top). Happy New Year!

Well I'll be darn, funny you posted this video cause this is what I was doing today, every New Years Day I go up on the old bottle dump behind my house and dig around, it's my little tradition. It's nice this time of year because no weeds or brush and it's easier to see stuff. I can dig bottles all day, it's just a relaxing thing to do and never know what you'll find next. Nice little bottle dump! I thought I saw some green glass that could be Uranium glass so be on the lookout for that or bring a black light flashlight next time. Loved this nice long video, and hope you had a Happy New Year!

I use the same gardening digging tool! My favorite find I think is 2 glass Shell Oil bottles. They stand 1'+ & are in tact!

I found a larkin and co bottle like that in a farm dump in New York. Larkin and co was a mail order company that used to make soaps and perfumes. actually their headquarter building in buffalo was designed by the architect frank loyd wright (the only office building he designed as far as i know) which unfortunately was demolished in 1950.

Bottle with ounces on the side at ~21:30 is a nurser bottle, to feed a baby milk. Nipple would fit on the top.

The small milk bottle is just for cream. After it rises to the top you can skim it off and put the cream in the small bottle by its self.

Also To-co co. was a soft drink company that opened up around 1907 or 1908 and they were defunct before 1915 they made various soft drinks like grape, vanilla and I think possibly root beer.

Eldridge Dairy was in Hagerstown Maryland and closed down in the early 1900s i think 1920-ish if i remember correctly. I live in Clear Spring and have found like 6 different types of Eldridge bottles

wish the bottle dump I found was like this but the top is filled with garbage bags of old cans and bottles from the 1970s I guess found a few vicks jars and maybe a wine bottle so that could be older possibly

Some of those bottles are curved but don't look like they were in a fire. Could they have distorted from the ground pressure? I have seen old window glass that has moved, thicker at the bottom and thinner at the top. I was told it takes about 100 years to see glass do that.

I'm guessing you probably already know about doing this, but I've seen people take the bottles with broken necks and cut them down, polish the edge and make whiskey glasses out of them

20:06 Crass Pale Dry - Ginger beer, bottle done by Coca Cola. 22:07 Soap bottle. Pretty rare in that specific shape. 27:09 that's a Haig & Haig pinched trilobe bottle. From Scotland. Given its size, that's a sample bottle.
