I live down the block from a beautiful Catholic Church. And, Dan's use of the harmonica (which I read in other comments his dad gave him when he was a boy) gives the song a lovely Celtic feel. We hear bagpipes often, where I live, which is a staple at Irish/Scottish funerals. I also happen to be a recovering alcoholic in AA and this song is our unofficial anthem. No religious dogma required. Although I am a devout Roman Catholic. This cover WILL be played at my ash scattering because I am a 70's kid.

Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected into what it is today. He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such respect, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of Amazing Grace that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). God BLESS Dan Vasc for sharing his wonderful talent & this video with the world! Great reaction to Dan's version of Amazing Grace. I've heard this song SO many times as a pastors kid, but I can listen to this one on repeat and never get tired of it. Have you ever reacted to Faouzia? You should check out her stripped versions of Tears of Gold and You Don't Even Know Me. She has a number of songs out there, lots of covers as well if that's the route you want to go, but she is definitely worth checking out, beautiful sound.

Very interesting to hear critique by an audio engineer. You hear in a much different way than most of us. Regardless, Dan Vasc's voice is a force to be reckoned with. He does all of his own arrangements by the way. For a switch you may want to check out PHANTOM of the Opera where you will hear a very different voice. You are in for a treat as you explore his many covers. He nails them all!! Thank you.

Your reaction was much appreciated by this new fan of his. The analysis of the audio from a professional's standpoint was interesting. I love your description of his voice; "audio velvet." As a 70-year old who was skeptical about a metal version of "Amazing Grace" I was blown away and went down the Dan Vasc rabbit hole to find that I can like metal which I never did before; perhaps because most of it was not mixed very well and was just a wall of sound without access to melody or lyrics. I feel sure you know more about that than I due to your profession. There are a lot of reaction videos out there to this; some from vocal coaches but I think yours may be the first from an audio engineer's standpoint.

Thank you for your reaction to Amazing Grace by Dan Vasc, I really dont understand your reaction to his playing. Out of the 100's of first reactions to this song, you are the first to be so critical of the way Dan performs the song. I don't know your life's credentials about being a music crititc but your comments are so off about him. Just because you cant play a harmonica, doesn't mean you can be so critical of how Dan plays it. Where he played the harmonica, in times past that section is played by bagpipes, the harmonica gives the song a new breath of life. Just because you dont understand the usuage of a harmonica, does not mean it doesn't deserve a place in this song.
