I don't have the words for the effigy, but that cross, despite its' age, is magnificent! It just needs a perspex box now to preserve what's left. I wouldn't mind waking up to those views every day. 😂 You reminded me of the “Irish mile”!! Trying to find the Youth Hostel one day, we walked and walked and walked….every time we stopped and asked, we got the same answer, “ just up the way”. We should have crossed some fields, I’m thinking! That’s how we ended up staying that night at the Sisters of Mercy convent school!! Never did find that hostel! 🤷🏼‍♀️ That ancient gorgeousness! I’ve always loved how stones were used on buildings, as fences, etc. Everything was so Natural. What an incredible husband & wife carvings. How sweet, such love. ❤💚

When you need to cross cow pastures, take a walking stick with you. Wave it and your free arm, they will stay away from you.

That is just a very beautiful graveyard it is a gorgeous place to be laid to rest . The people back then sure had to work hard for something to be still so beautiful and detailed this day. The cross & the tomb are amazing especially given how old they are. Cows are very curious animals they always want to check out new things. Thankfully most of them are pretty docile. Now bulls on the other hand there is not enough money in this world to make me go near a bull or in a field where one was. It was so nice to see such an old cemetery so well taken care of. Another fantastic old Churchyard.Its a shame the lichen has got to most of the headstones ,but that’s just one of those things sadly ..Nice old church too..Loved the Box tomb with the carvings on the top.Those are still in good condition for their age,the dress looks late medieval .tried I tried reading the script above them!but it was a bit too difficult.Some of the spelling was in the old way too,which makes it confusing.Thanks for taking us.The view was absolutely Stunning too.Love n Light to you both 🥰

What an exceptional place to find in the middle of a cow pasture. So much history, but those effigies are incredible and so are the surrounding stones that have whole families buried together. Very unique, I have never seen anything like it when I was there. Did I miss what County this is in? Could you let me know? ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️

Oh, if those church walls could talk!...the amazing stories they would tell! I think of all the familes from around the area coming to the church for daily/ weekly services, and for all the special occasions...sad and happy. So much history!...even the Black Death in the 1200's! Wow! And that Celtic cross was like nothing i have ever seen! Imagine the skilled stone-cutter who has left us his beautiful legacy all these hundreds of years later! I am absolutely in awe of how that cross is still standing tall when often much smaller grave stones are leaning way over or have fallen! Wow❤

So the hourglass a representation of time is short and or it could mean the persons life was cut short . skull and crossbones death is inevitable. The bell symbols the calling of the people to the funeral for whom the Bell tolls. Kinda neat story behind the bell. John donne wrote the line in a sermon for whom the Bell tolls 1572-1631 . there's so much more about it. That is such a neat tomb love it guys ❤ 😌can we just sit here for awhile .
