Sergio Larraín, one of the towering figures in photojournalism from the late '50s to the late '60s, had a brief yet brilliant career, reaching the pinnacle as a photojournalist, his true passion. But he was not your typical artist; he shied away from boasting and discussing his work or himself. He fled from ego, never allowing it to dictate his work or life. He chose to leave it all behind and immerse himself in reflection and meditation in a tranquil Chilean village. Though he abandoned photography, his correspondence left a striking legacy of his photographic insight, still astounding many. A genius in silence.

Another excellent review of a lesser known photographer. The fake scratches and sprocket holes superimposed on the videos are unnecessary and distracting.

a good photographer. Not a great photographer. Though some of the images are great. So many are sort of misses. Like decent camera club photos. Being in a place that is really cool for various reasons and taking pictures there just doesn't mean the pictures are going to be great. His sense of composition is hit or miss I think. Not even close to a shooter like Daido Moriyama..... and many others. I never heard of him before I saw this video.

I'm glad to have happened upon your work here! I gave the link to a friend of mine who is handling the work of Larry Siegel, who passed not long ago and was a really god photographer and was a very important person in the NYCZ photo gallery scene early on. His wife's name is Reka and she will try to contact you about his work. He was a teacher of mine at nyc's SVA around 1974-76. He ran the Midtown Y Gallery and I helped him there for a few years.@@Joel_Ulises
