As a retired SnapOn franchisee of 16 years , most dealers will warranty tools no problem … I know I did , I even warrantied stuff that wasn’t covered under warranty… It all depends on the dealer. And yes SnapOn corporate is awesome to deal with as well! Thank you for giving an accurate portrayal of your experience

Lots of tool companies have 'no hassle' lifetime warranties that are easier to deal with than Snapon. Gearwrench, Tekton, Harbor Freight, Sunex, etc. It's pretty common place nowadays.

You are so right. I recently purchased some Tekton stuff and was very happy with it. My understanding is if you need warranty work, you send them a digital photo and they send you a replacement. I've also had a Pittsburgh socket from Harbor Freight break (it was not an impact socket, but I put it on my impact wrench) and they gave me a new one, no questions asked.

I'm a retired mechanic in Aus, working as a barber now. But Snap On has the best warranty worldwide, I've seen things replaced that were so obviously used outside their scope, no questions asked. When people freak out on the price, it all comes back to the warranty and service snap on provides that separates them from the rest.

When you need a replacement and you are on the regular stop, (the guy coming to get the weekly payment) it's no problem. Since I'm not on the stop, I reached out to corporate and they took great care of me. Never even wanted a picture or the broken stuff back. I'm still waiting a couple weeks and haven't hear a word from MATCO corporate.....

Snap-on trucks don't have to warranty on the truck. In fact the trucks I have dealt with only warranty for their customers because if Snap-on denies the claim then the truck eats the cost. In fact the Snap-on truck where I work just stopped coming by. I am probably going to contact my previous Snap-on guy to get somethings warrantied and pick some stuff up.

I've had the same thought about calling my old dealer. Ours stops in, talks to one guy about hunting and leaves. Seems like it's an inconvenience any time I ask for something so I spend my money elsewhere

It definitely comes down to the driver. Some won’t warranty anything unless you have an account and have bought stuff from that driver. If you’re not a paying customer they don’t seem to have time for you. But some drivers will. and I get it, it’s hard to verify if anyone is the original purchaser of a tool. I think any snap on tool, regardless of how many hands it’s been passed down through, should be warrantiable. The problem is how people could abuse that. Buying a 30 year old broken ratchet off eBay and trading it in for brand new ratchet definitely isn’t the fairest of trades. I can see arguments for and against leaving the choice up to the driver. It’s their franchise, they can do what the want. But if the company tells me a tool has a lifetime warranty, I damn well want to be able to swap it out.

I agree. I actually hadn't been on a Snap-On truck since 1990, but it was sold as a lifetime warranty. Sending it back to corporate is a hassle but they did honor the warranty. Thanks for watching.

I have moved I hadn't bought anything since the late 90's all my hammers disintegrated and pry bar and a dozen screwdrivers the snap on dealer took care of them no questions asked I finally found a Mac truck that dealer replaced everything also the snap on dealer treated me like I had been a customer for years not only have I bought a few things I have referred more customers to him I can't believe for a little bit of effort some dealers won't give everyone the same customer service 🤦🏻‍♂️

It's sad. When I owned my shop, pre 1990, I had both a great Snap-On and MATCO dealer. They both have retired as well. Now that I'm just an old retired guy wrenching on my own projects at home, they know I probably won't buy much and probably don't like being approached at other stops. Snap-On corporate came through. I also sent a hammer back to MATCO corporate. It will be interesting to see what they do. Thanks for watching!

Those tool truck warranty sucks bad. Y'all obviously got a couple of super rare dealers because most are not like that. Plus the turn around time on warranty is crazy long.

When I sent the stuff to Snap-On corporate, they sent me new stuff within 5 business days. They didn't even ask for my receipt or to return the busted stuff. I was impressed. I just wish the tool truck guys took care of the warranty, but I guess if they aren't collecting your weekly payment, they don't want anything to do with just a normal guy.

The guys on the trucks still should handle your warranty problems without question. At my shop our Snap-on rep retired about a year and a half ago. So while we were waiting for a new rep I handled all of the warranty stuff for everyone in the shop. Same experience called Snap-on, they took down all of the part numbers. No questions asked, keep the old broken stuff, we will send out everything as soon as possible.

I think if I still owned my shop and the truck guy stopped every Friday to get his payments, he would have warrantied my stuff. A stranger randomly stopping when they see the truck meant probably no new sales so they didn't want to talk to me. That being said, Corporate was amazing. I just sent them another 33 tools for warranty.

I was curious to how it works if you buy snap on off eBay? I don’t have a snap on truck into local area unfortunately. I work in aviation on an army base. Will they warranty tools if I show the buyer or maybe a digital receipt from eBay? A lot of the guys just buy gearwrench which is great btw but I’ve used snap on for 6 years when I was in the army and I love there tools.

I think if you call snap-on directly for warranty they will take care of you. Tell them you bought the tools from a tool truck not e-bay, while you were in the military and now you don't have a local guy coming by. Here is the info from their website: U.S. Snap-on Tools Customer Service by phone* Call our toll free number at 877-762-7664, Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Central Time Or email at eorders@snapon.com I found their customer service to be great. Give it a try.... Thanks for watching!, Rick

Pretty hard to beat Tekton warranty. Just send them a picture and they mail you a new one. Harbor Freight warranty's all their hand tools for life. The ICON brand stuff is pretty good.

They say we're paying for the service. Well, snap on had the worst service in my area for YEARS until we got a new rep a year or so ago. Our mac guy was the best of the best until he retired a couple years ago. The new rep is terrible. Especially if you need to warranty something. Cornwell always sucked. Matco has slowly but consistently gotten worse. Meanwhile, i can order stuff online for 1/4 the cost or in store for 1/3. If something breaks, send them a pic and have a new one in a few days. Other than basic hand tools, youre likely 2 weeks out getting warranty on the truck.
@papabearracing

The trucks only like to come by when you owe them money. There are a lot of cheaper options. Some you can throw them away 8 or 10 times before you reach the price of Snap-On. I always tell the kids getting into the business to buy good tools but stay off the trucks.
