Never stepping foot in the UAE before, I found out that my trip to Abu Dhabi was going to be solo the moment I arrived! My friend, Cody (@codyconk), was waiting at the airport for hours before his flight in hopes that his PCR test would come in time, but that wasn't the case. The testing center at the airport was also closed off for the day since they were maxed out at capacity!
Nowadays, there are so many additional steps needed in order to fly internationally, I don't see NOT having a negative PCR test as a requirement going away anytime soon. When I landed in Abu Dhabi, I had hoped that his flight was rescheduled by the time I landed but with how short my time was going to be in Abu Dhabi, it almost didn't make sense for Cody to reschedule his flight.
All in all, did I expect this to be a solo trip? No, but I made the most of it. I was a little nervous at first, but those are all natural feelings.
