ERRA's self-titled album is out now: unfd.lnk.to/ERRA
Your star burns and dies out a thousand times over, but still remains a source of light to guide you home. In flight or in freefall, glide along the evergreen. Motes of dust resembling constellations. Every step directed with purpose. Unwearied in your desire to seek. The others seeking virtue to follow will track the living imprint of your feet. Waking into the moment from a fever dream. Two steps behind, observing compulsive thoughts in a conscious stream. Let this moment break your heart. Something greater to impart. Anxieties that you try to pacify will keep you going under. Follow me to the sound. Conscious soul to be found. Anchors cast in the disarray drift away. Drift away, unafraid of what awaits. Endless edge of an endless horizon. Ships passing like ghosts over graves. Set yourself upon the precipice of the earth, feeling through everything. Let this moment break your heart. Something greater to impart. Anxieties that you try to pacify will keep you going under. Follow me to the sound. Conscious soul to be found. Compulsive thoughts in a conscious stream. The moment hits you like a cannon blast, when you wake into Being, unidentified with your past. The moment hits you like a cannon blast. Love you found in the empty space slipped away. Slipped away in the fade. In flight or in freefall, glide along the evergreen. Motes of dust resembling constellations. We are waking up out of this coma.

Courtney isn't playing the complicated guitar parts Jesse is though, is she? I've seen Erra live a few times and Jesse has definitely gotten better over the years, but everyone seems to forget he's playing some of the more techincal metalcore in the scene at the same time.

I live in Russia and we still have a partially draft army here, such military service lasts 1 year and it is obligatory. For you to understand - conditions of service in the Russian army worse than Norwegian prison predominantly because of a lot of restrictions, actually it is some kind of legal state slavery, lol. So I had served in a secret military unit when the Neon album was released. Oh, be sure, it was challenging to get and listen to it on the service computer. Nonetheless, I had rare access to it and I could listen to and memorize new songs at least somehow. As I had not any easy legal access to a music player or a smartphone I printed the album lyrics and some guitar parties on small pieces of paper and hide them in my uniform. I'd started to learn it by heart at every free minute during my barracks duty. Soon I knew all tracks and entertained myself by playing it in my head trying to playback partiture as precise as I could recall. So why am I writing this here? I want to remind every person who read this shit about the value that there is music you can really enjoy yet. Seriously, people, we should appreciate this unique stuff! I have a lot of respect for Erra guys for their art. It supports me through the darkest days of my life and never disappoints, thanks a lot for that! Jesse is one of the greatest composers of our generation undoubtedly. I'm with you bros since I've listened to "Heart" once about ten years ago. P. S.: Btw, thanks for this masterpiece either!

Melody-driven metalcore is what got me into metal in the first place. Listening to The Amity Affliction and OM&M and all those Warped Tour-era bands gave high-school me a form of expression for feelings I hadn’t yet learned to verbalize. It’s been nearly a decade, and bands like ERRA still manage to continually write songs that strike an emotional chord in me that nothing else can touch in quite the same way. This has quickly become my favorite song off the album. Thank you all for doing what you do!

Even though it's not a fast or hard slapper, this track hits in such a different way. Is this song lower tuning than usual? The top string sounds so low in those verse parts. The chorus needs to be hung in a museum, it's a work of art.
@iamburger6645
@iamburger6645 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think the song is lower tuning than a normal Erra song I think there's a synth (triangle wave?) that's playing an octave lower on those low chugs. It's a technique that's sometimes used for bass drums to give extra 'thump.'
@Beggars.
@Beggars. 3 жыл бұрын
@@iamburger6645 Ah, that might be it. It's an optical illusion of sorts. It sounds like it's in their usual Drop F tuning (or whatever it is) and that in some parts it goes lower down to E.
@Jn1spion
@Jn1spion 2 жыл бұрын
the song is in drop F# like 90% songs since Neon, also I'm pretty sure there is no synth layered with the rhythm guitars, what you're hearing is just a right choice of guitar tone which blends incredibly well with the bass

I might be a little biased but honestly I think this is one of the best songs ever written. Literally everything about the song is top notch from guitar work to vocals to lyrics, just everything. This song does not have a flaw.

The first 3 songs of ERRA I've heard are this, "Snowblood" and "Gungrave". I can't imagine any band striking a chord in me as hard as these songs did. I can't imagine melodic metalcore improving much beyond these songs alone. I haven't even heard an entire album of these guys.

these were my first 3 too. this one got me the most because im a big spiritbox fan and this, to me, gave off the same energy as spiritbox's song "trust fall". but i loved the chorus in snowblood.

Your star burns and dies out a thousand times over But still remains a source of light to guide you home In flight or in freefall, glide along the evergreen Motes of dust resembling constellations Every step directed with purpose Unwearied in your desire to seek The others seeking virtue to follow Will track the living imprint of your feet Waking into the moment From a fever dream Two steps behind, observing Compulsive thoughts in a conscious stream Let this moment break your heart Something greater to impart Anxieties that you try to pacify Will keep you going under Follow me to the sound Conscious soul to be found Anchors cast in the disarray Drift away, drift away, unafraid of what awaits Endless edge of an endless horizon Ships passing like ghosts over graves Set yourself upon the precipice of the earth Feeling through everything Let this moment break your heart Something greater to impart Anxieties that you try to pacify Will keep you going under Let this moment break your heart Something greater to impart Anxieties that you try to pacify Will keep you going under Follow me to the sound Conscious soul to be found Compulsive thoughts in a conscious stream The moment hits you like a cannon blast When you wake into being, unidentified with your past The moment hits you like a cannon blast Love you found in the empty space Slipped away, slipped away in the fade In flight or in freefall, glide along the evergreen Motes of dust resembling constellations Constellations We are waking up out of this coma We are waking up out of this coma

Holy shit yeah, hearing these two songs back to back... Lunar Halo + Vanish Canvas lifts me up so high. What an amazing and evocative piece of art. The lyrics, the music, the tone. I truly feel like these songs call me to something greater, which based on the lyrics of this album, I can only assume was the intent. I will be learning these songs and remember how they make me feel for the rest of my life.
