The Phala Phala scandal saw the ATM dominating the headlines as the party that raised the motion to kickstart the process to have President Cyril Ramaphosa removed from office. With coalition politics having become the reality of South Africa, also promising to be more entrenched with the upcoming 2024 national elections - the ATM has refused to be part of the ANC-led government initiative to discuss coalition guidelines, and has also rejected the DA-led multi-party charter for South Africa charter which aims to prevent the ANC the Economic Freedom Front emerging as leaders after the elections. With its basis being religion, the ATM has already seen some of its members leaving to join the United Democratic Movement - for what they said was the control of the South African Council of Messianic Churches in Christ led by Reverend Caesar Nongqunga over the party.
