To be “three sheets to the wind” is to be drunk. The sheet is the line that controls the sails on a ship. If the line is not secured, the sail flops in the wind, and the ship loses headway and control. If all three sails are loose, the ship is out of control.

“Three sheets to the wind” is an antique nautical phrase. Something to do with ship’s sails coming loose and flapping around instead of being taut but I forget exactly... the point being it means fucked up to the point of uselessness.

When I was pregnant me and my husband went to a “field party” (basically nothing else to do in Tennessee except go to a farm and drink)... but of course I couldn’t drink so I was the D Driver. Fast forward to 3 am in my bedroom and I wake up to water running (very loudly). I didn’t think much of it because it stopped pretty quickly so I just fell back asleep. The next morning I find a puddle in the corner where my husband apparently peed all down the wall 💦 I guess he was so drunk he thought he went to the bathroom (or behind a tree 🌳 😆)
