So people are saying, just because this game is better than bad games, it should be praised? There are a lot of things I love about the game and a lot of things I don’t like about the game so far. In all honesty, the more I play, the negative/cons are starting to outweigh the good, however. I’ll just reserve my opinion for when I beat the game, I’m just not as confident in the game as I once was. People are so childish, attacking you for having a detailed difference in opinion lmfao.

I'm glad one of these squad based autobattler strategy rpg game is even getting hype. Lot of these types of games like Ogre Battle, Soul Nomad, or Last Remnant don't even get as much of a glance, let alone hype of people dubbing them game of the year. I'm glad to see to see this getting hype and hope more of these kind of games can be made in the future.

I've had more fun with this demo then most games last year. Really excited for release

To be fair, we have demo of a game to play around. Whereas FE4 has no trailer, screenshot, or gameplay and everyone's hyping that game up like crazy. And just because some people don't like does not mean it not good. This not a fire emblem game this is a different strategy games so of course it's not gonna connect with other people. Symphony of War The Nephilim Saga also has the same squad based system expect it's turn based and not real time.

i've only played like two hours into the demo because i got too busy to sit down and play again, but from i played i would say i agree with your rating, it's pretty good but not "one of the best ever". but seeing all these comments disagreeing and refuting is honestly getting me excited to play again lol

Vanilla hands down makes some goody art and designs. Altho i too is feeling the overhype of the game praise, like Triangle Strategy. Battle is kinda weird and feels slow, and theres it looks like a tower defense from the hub world. Theres no real theme with the characters yet . But I do hope they do something

personally, im having a really fun time with it. i love the customization and the map traversal in expert mode. im really excited to pick up the full game. i do not think the concern that people are over rating it too much especially for those on the fence makes much sense. Like to most people who like srpgs they love it and there is a free lengthy demo. Worrying some people are gonna waste money seems kinda silly. But i get that feeling some times with games i hate that people love (borderlands 2). id say play unicorn overlord on expert and see how you feel

I respect the UO is not for everyone but for someone who enjoys turn based rpgs. No game comes close to the amount of detail and strategies that you can come up with. To me it is a 9 out of 10, story so far is average tho

They spoiled an arena ladder like a gacha gate for pvp. Not sure about anything beyond that If you station a guard at the town,they collect taxes and resources for you automatically

Play Expert it's really fun

sorry mate but you are WONG in almost everything you said, the game is the most fun i have, people where dying to see another ogre battle like game and unicorn overlord exceeded these expectation, and the gambit sistem is much complex than you think, the story does have flaws but that does not mean is bad, is still in a demo

Naah this is great I've got 32 hours on the demo. The depth of combat is great, not too complicated but complicated enough to get you addicted. You keep trying a new skill or a new conditon and it just changes how a character plays it amazing. Finding good team comps and experimenting is so fun and diverse. This is building up to be the one of the best strategy games ever. The art the music are amazing too. Like, what do you want more, and btw there is a pvp mode.

Yeah hype is always a double edged sword. Even if the game is great, there's no reason to blow anything out of proportion. It'll still have flaws and things that can be criticized, like all games. I'm looking forward to trying it.

I'm getting both FF7 Rebirth and this, and honestly I dropped FF7R demo and screamed "NO!!!" when the demo for this game ended

I love Vanillaware, I trust Atlus and 13 sentinels (and Fire Emblem 3 Houses are my favorite). But honestly? Everyone is overreacting to this game, looks good and it’s fun but just average good and fun. The plot is basically ‘oh the liberation army is here let’s battle / forgive him’. And the maps are ok-ish. The art and music are awesome. But… just a good game, I don’t get any GOTY vibes from this one and I wouldn’t even recommend it at 60€ honestly. For 60€ you can get a second hand FE3Houses, HollowKnight and VampireSurvivors so… My recommendation would be: 1. If you are into the strategy of this game: play FE3Houses 2. If you are into art, music and reading: play 13sentinels

You talk about challenge but you aren't even on the highest difficulty mate. Cmon. I'm not sure what there is to complain about With this game considering the genre has stagnated for years. Including fire emblem.

I was on the fence about getting this game until I played the demo. I really loved vanillaware's previous game, 13 sentinels, so I was willing to give this one a shot. I agree with you, I think the characters are a bit lacking, at least from what we've seen in the demo, and I'm disappointed that the story isn't something a bit more complicated like 13 sentinels was. With collecting all the item points around the map, I do agree that it just seems to be busy work in between battles. However, I LOVE the art style, music, and the whole idea of making your own army and sending them on their way. I think if the game were to let you choose what attacks each character does, it negates that feeling of "you're a commander ordering your troops off, and once they leave their flag starting bit area to go off into battle, they're essentially getting out of hearing distance of their commander, and so they just fulfill the order they were given and can't be given new orders/commands". I love setting up each unit and deciding how their skills work, and knowing that if they fail it's on my failure to "code" them well enough in how I set up their skills and setup. It's not just "who has the better equipment/level" 1v1 type of thing. I 100% agree that this game isn't for everyone. I think given that menu-ing is a MASSIVE portion of playing this game, you have to enjoy/not mind that type of thing, and you have to be able to sort of look past the auto-battle part. I've also played the xenoblade chronicles games, and those are kinda the same thing with auto-battling, so I'm used to this type of thing. I do think that the hype surrounding this game has sort of left the "niche dedicated tactical rpg" fanbase it originated in and has become a bit too out there, but once a game gets hyped up like this there's no way of un-hyping it. Which means some people ARE going to buy a product wanting something more from it, and being disappointed when the game doesn't live up to the pre-concieved notions they had of it. Thanks for making this video, I appreciate that you point out through the video that for fans of tactical rpgs that they will probably love this, while also making your own opinion clear, in that for other people this game is too overhyped, based on what we know about it right now.

I personally played the demo on a whim and after 7 hours of play I see no way you don't think this game is Great. I went from uninterested to having a preorder for the collectors edition

Hey Adam, thanks for the review. I was wondering about this game. I enjoy FE games, and many SRPGS; AND I loved ogre battle (once upon a time anyways). Saved me some money my friend! Say what you want, but there's plenty of great ARPGS, and more coming in March; and a small handful of interesting SRPGS too: so with one of the worst names ever in gaming, and an unappealing art style (to me anyways), this game would HAVE to be game of the decade to get me to part with my money. And it seems like "okay" is the best way to describe it tbh. So that's a no buy for me. But I hope that the players who will like it ( in spite of the mind bogglingly bad name), will truly enjoy the game for a long time! Give me full on intense action rpgs with little story at all, I'm great. Or give me mind bending, ball busting strategic gameplay. PS: I'm glad you're still doing your thing Adam. A niche game like this from a small studio like Vanillaware releasing between FF7 and Dragons Dogma needs all the hype it can get in my opinion. Otherwise people aren't going to pay attention to it or give it a try.

Your channel is just all about Fire Emblem. It’s obvious your bias is taking hold. This demo is better than “good.” This demo alone is better than the entirety of most Fire Emblem games.

I disagree, the game is one of the most fun SRPG games I have played in a long time. Agreed the story and characters I hope improve. But won’t say it’s as Engage level of let down. Hope it succeeds and sales well, we we more people in these type of gaming so we have more than one franchise we hope can drop a good game ever 5 years.
