Here it is; the car that I've had the most requests for, and I am so glad to have finally seen one! Lucky us, because this particular Silvia is a very special. The RS-X was the highest performance grade that the S12 Silvia came in and features a variation of the DOHC Turbo engine out of the DR30 Nissan Skyline.

Oh man that's a beautiful car. here in the US I believe this was called the 200SX. Another thing, every time I see the hatchback I automatically think AE86 or Accord Hatchback. There were just so many cars in this period that looked the same. QOtD: I actually haven't seen an R34 here in the US. I've seen RHD Supra MKIVs, S15 Silvias, R32 Skylines, heck I've even seen prototype 1:1 scale clay models for the FD RX-7 but never an R34.

The couple of times I went to a little drift event here where I live, there used to be a hatch version and I also thought it looked like a 86. My cousin nicknamed it pepto, as in pepto bismol since it was painted a weird pink and was some what trashed.

I think the extractors are a different shape to make it fit inside the smaller bay compared to the dr30, so its down on power from the rest of the fj20's because of that.

Funny, a couple of weeks ago, I saw a red and black hatchback 200SX down the street from where I work. Too bad it was dark. It was like new. QOTD, well, just today on my way home, I cruised past the Chevy dealer by where I work and saw my very first 2014/15 Camaro Z/28. I'd love to find an R30/31 Skyline here in the states. I'm super jealous of the cherry blossoms and the visit to the shrine! If I ever visit Japan it has to be early springtime. :) The Silvia is super clean and a great looker for its age! I'm sure the owner is really taking care of the car. We got the FJ20 here in Europe as well, but then without the turbo. The turbo version has the CA18ET engine instead. We did get the hood bulge/scoop though on those FJ20 models and apparently Nissan had some leftovers and granted us the LSD as well on those models. I did spot a Silvia quite often in the Netherlands, like this turbo model: www.banpei.net/2013/10/28/down-on-the-street-red-nissan-silvia-s12 But the FJ20 model is also kind of an unicorn out here. Speaking of unicorns, the widebody Grand Prix model is such a unicorn and I was lucky to encounter one on a car show: www.banpei.net/2011/06/13/jaf2011-nissan-silvia-s12-grand-prix It looks awesome and certainly has lots of grip thanks to its widebody, but in engine performance terms it will never be as good as the RS-X. Lots of owners swap the FJ20 for a JDM turbo engine. QOTD: What haven't I seen? I have seen lots of things but just like I said in the beginning is true Japanese cherry blossoms, let alone a true Japanese cherry blossom festival.

nissansunny1600 Thanks. Dunno yet if I will go to JAF. I was always bummed out by the ones in Assen but this year it is held in Zandvoort again so I might go. AFAIK I knew of one S12s with an FJ engine that got the LSD but maybe that was an optional.

Over here in the States, it was known as the 200SX, and I believe the SE version did come with the FJ20 DOHC turbo in it. are these life coincidences or what!? going back home today, i saw one of those S12's, i hope an american model, because it would be a shame to have another mutilated dahed JDM model in our roads, no intake so it wasn't a turbo, greenish silver was the colour; but what a great silvia!! i cannot say too much about this car, but i can say it looks gorgeous, definetly my style of car, and white, what else can you want in life? :D if you made this video 2 days ago, i would say an old mercedes pagoda for the question of the day, but i saw one yesterday on the motorway, i didn't wanted to crash the recently fixed primera again, so i couldn't take a shot, but i admit it was inmaculate, what a nice roof indeed. so question of the day is: a datsun roadster? i know that thousands of them arrived to america, but i've never seen one! seems that people liked their triumph heralds really much here, i still can find some of them :)

Um good question! I haven't seen one of these for sure, but my answer is going to be the Lancia 037, have yet to see an original! Have seen all the other group B legends apart from it. Maybe get lucky like you did Dan 😉

drumandbassking12345 Even if you're half as lucky as I have been in my car-spotting adventures, you'll be doing well. I'm saying that because during the week, I saw my absolute greatest find! Likely, few other will care, but for me, THE GREATEST!!!

I haven't seen an actual unicorn. Years back a coworker of mine had a car like this, but it had the V6 from the Nissan Z instead of 2.0 turbo. I don't think the 2.0 turbo made it to the States.

Legion of Weirdos - with Christopher Mast That V6 you're talking about would be the VG30ET (US market only I believe) I believe they can also be found in the Z31 300ZX, though their may be some slight differences. The 2.0L turbo was only a Japanese market thing (along with it's respective RHD country export models) however, we did get a turbocharged 1.8L CA18ET version here in the Canadian market. They're not exactly fantastic motors by any means, (non-intercooled, dual-spark ignition, terrible connecting rod design: which makes them prone to throwing rods) but they're pretty cool for what they are.

I think the s12 must be more common in aus than in Japan. I've only seen two (in QLD) so I'm unsure, but they were drift cars so they mustn't be that rare here. I've never seen a clean (daily/resto/restod) r31 skyline like I've seen in a few of your videos. All the r31s I've seen are just drift missiles, which is unfortunate because they scrub really well.
