THE UNIDEN 980SSB SO FAR BEEN MORE THAN WHAT I EXPECTED THE STOCK MIC IS PRETTY GOOD SOUNDING. TALKING TO PEOPLE WELL OVER 6 MILES . NOTHING BEEN DONE TO THE RADIO. IAM A COBRA FAN AND IN MY OPINION UNIDEN OUT DID THE COBRA LX. GOOD JOB GUYS.

I cranked mine up and I'm about 7W swinging 26W but it gets pretty warm...gotta turn it down a bit I guess! thanks for these helpful videos

I know this is old but yes...the stock final is a 16W device. If you want more you'll have to find a way to get a bigger one in there. Or just use the radio as an amp driver, these seem to pair quite well with the RM Italy KL 203.

So,would you consider this a pretty good radio to use as a base in an everyday situation? Compared to say Cobra or Realistic or maybe a Uniden Grant? Not too cheaply made or anything. The price is right.

How do the adjusters work inside the radio work? I know they keep going round and round, but where is the stopping point to get the most out of the radio?

+garrimic3 There is no stoping point. Once you turn them past max that start back over at the bottom. You have to be careful not to turn them to far.

@Mr Fixit that only works for the second gen. First gen does require desoldering a small component.

no way of extra channel because one of chip in board and uniden want say legal only is grant or grant 2 of for extra channel

+Bells CB my adapter it come with four pin six at four pin was tight try a cobra power mic it was so tight I cant get off almost break plug
