@@rachel-in-the-208 By how rounded the points of the blade are, and how the blade shines. You can see it is neither sharp on the sides nor "shiny" on the part of the cutting edge. Compare them with a real knife used in the kitchen and you will notice which one can cause harm and which not.

Interesting how during the fortune reading the practitioner mentioned the heart and lungs. the same places that the Bali alternative massage mentioned while doing accupressure on her feet. Knife Therapy, or Daoliao, is an ancient Chinese therapy where they massage you with large butcher knives and it is is believed to have physical and emotional healing powers and is a form of Chinese medicine that is thought to be more than 2,000 years old. Practitioners say it was first carried out by monks in ancient China. It spread to Japan in the Tang Dynasty more than 1,000 years ago and to Taiwan following the Chinese Civil War in the 1940s.

To be fair the knives are very dull on purpose (you can tell by looking at the edge; the red tape wrapped around the handles is probably specifically to mark them as being the specific knives for massage) and are basically used as thin metal massage tools that are effectively working the muscles in very narrow sections, going by the light amount of pressure used, rather than trying to tenderize the muscle with a stronger hit, as you'd use with preparing meat for cooking (the backs of knives work wonders for that purpose; tenderizing mallets simply cover a larger area, but end up turning the meat into paste if you're not careful).

Почему-то именно это видео я пересматриваю уже третий раз. Есть в нём что-то завораживающее )) Но сама техника мне знакома, у нас когда-то на работе был массажист кореец. У него был достаточно большой арсенал различных инструментов и приспособлений для массажа и аккупунктуры, в том числе и металлические пластины, использовавшиеся в очень похожей технике. Не знаю, действительно ли присутствует терапевтический эффект, но мышцы и зажатости он расслаблял действительно очень быстро и эффективно!

@@McPharosI tried searching using that term (and the pinyin )on YT to no avail, you can try: ‘Chinese fortune telling’ and there are some (also in hong kong and japan etc) however i haven’t found any using the same tapping technique as this video or as high quality. I also happened upon some good “Saju Fortune Telling” videos - South Korean fortune telling that uses nice sounding tools and movements.

For anyone curious, I did a bit of research and I believe the fortune telling shown here is feng shui fortune telling using a luopan. It doesn't seem to be well documented on the english-speaking internet from what I can tell but there's an interesting summary on Wikipedia.

1:03 Fortune telling time stamp… Someone tell me what to search to find something similar. I like the loud and sorta rhythmic tapping with the wood. I also like the non whispered talking, not loud but fast (just cause that’s the language)

It's a luopan ( 羅盤 / 罗盘 )! Might be easier to find as a Feng Shui compass or a geomantic compass if you don't use any variation of Chinese in your search. It's got some interesting history, but if you are interested in the sound it is producing, some people have used it online for that purpose and sound bits are also found in other knife massage videos!
