As an English man went to a random koln game in the bundesliga, it was 1-1 against frankfurt and was 10× as better as alot of English games I've been to.

The one thing I always love is when you see older individuals (like in the background of this video) being a part of the atmosphere whether it be singing, bouncing, etc. You really never see that in the states. I absolutely love it when you get a variety of all generations coming together to support their club

Union is a very unique club, because fans donated their own blood, to keep the club alive

I was at the first game in Finland and to that game no away fans was allowed so the 400 German that was at that game had all bought tickets in Finnish names. That is some dedicated fans!!

Union‘s stadium isn‘t too small. It just hasn’t got enough seats. It’s a typical German stadium with lots of standing areas, which is forbidden in European Competitions

Actually pretty cool that this situation happened in Berlin out of all cities. Playing at a rival's stadium from other part of a city is something that wasn't possible here for many decades. Amazing unity!

Fantastic video, really enjoyed that Theo. I first became aware of Union on my first visit to Berlin in 2013 and I've followed their fortunes ever since. It's been fantastic watching their rise into Bundesliga. 1 and now into European matches. Up to now it's just been via match alerts and youtube (one of the highlights being the open top BOAT along the river, if I remember correctly to celebrate promotion to the Bundesliga .1) Definitely hope to get to a game at some stage. Although their continuing success might make that a bit more difficult than in the old days, it's a good problem to have. Berlin is a brilliant city anyway but to combine it with a Union game would make it perfect. U.N.V.E.U

*2nd Euro stint (since reunification). They were the first (and maybe only) 3rd division side to make Euro qualifiers after losing to Schalke in DFB Pokal final in 2000. Really enjoyed the video, love this club, hope you got a sense of what supporting a club that exists for its fans and members feels like.

You could take a look at the Helsinki derby. The atmisphere is pretty good.

As a german i like to look this video. I think the passion and feeling is touchable. Maybe you can go to other proper east german clubs stadiums like Dresden or Rostock, the atmoshere there is unbelievible.

The Union stadium barely has any seats for sitting - normally everyone just stands the whole game. I'm pretty sure sitting in their rival's stadium was the lsat thing they would want to do for a 'home' game xD

At First: Unions Stadium is Not to small, it hasn't enough seats to sit (UEFA regulation) Second: hertha plays in the olympic Stadium, but they have to rent this stadium everytime, because the owner is not hertha, its the goverment of Berlin

Union already played in a European Cup, back in 2001. They played FC Haka Valkeakoski (went on to next round) but were elimanted by Litex Lovech.

bloody smart idea to travel around to smaller teams in europe. they are more loyal and will subscribe to your channel because unlike some of the big clubs they rarely get the exposure.

So cool you came to see Union. You should go to the Alte Försterei though, the atmosphere is even better there. Hertha is renting the Olympiastadion for their games…and seeing it in red colors must be a slap in their faces (loving it) 😎 Btw if you go to the Berlin derby there seeing the fans you might feel Union is playing at home. 😂

Thogden, i saw Union play Bielefeld in their first season in the Bundesliga, as my mate here is a Bielefeld fan. What you saw at that game is nothing compared with a full Alten Försterei. Try and get to a game there, when the capacity is allowed to be sold out again. Every home game was sold out, and it was only pot luck to get in. Might be a couple of years though before grounds here are able to have a full capacity again, but well worth waiting for

Theo, hope you enjoyed your time in Berlin. Its been my home town for the past 33 years. Very difficult to get tickets for Union in a league game, as only 10000 are allowed in, and they have 25000 plus for their Christmas singing. Reckon it wont be long before your at your beloved Bolton. Try and get there when they are playing my team, The Gills....

They played 2001/2002 in the UEFA-CUP, they qualifiyed by reaching the DFB-Pokal final, which they lost. Those are not they're first international matches to be exact.

I went on the Hertha Berlin stadium tour in 2019. It is a fantastic stadium and steeped in history, especially from the infamous 1936 Olympics. The guide informed us that Sepp Blatter had his own individual seat right on the halfway line in front of the director’s box, which no one, apart from him, was allowed to sit in. The stadium was built by Otto March for the 1916 Olympics, next door to the existing racecourse. The Third Reich extended and built up the stadium for the 1936 Olympics and it was used by the British Army for its HQ after the war ended. The racecourse grounds were also used by the British Army for gymkhanas and equestrian sports.

You definitely have to visit SV Waldhof Mannheim 07 for a home game. World class atmosphere in the German 3rd league. Waldhof auuufff💙🖤

the german speaking fan said "I'm just here to celebrate the team" I lived kinda close to the stadium for 5 years. the club is so cool! super close to the fans, always fighting against social issues in germany (some fan scandals in the younger history but still) and also made an amazing job since they came back to the bundesliga! the team is way better than the players should be and that's something Urs Fischer is doing so good! the clubs, the team and the fans are a (1.fc) union.
