This is a song about the BIGGEST steam locomotive in the world that ran on the Union Pacific Railroad line. The 'Big Boys' were used on the Overland Route on long continuous climbs at the summit of Sherman and west of Green River through the Wasatch range. They were first called the "titans of the Wasatch," but quickly adopted the name 'Big Boy' - which was written on one of the drive rods by an unknown worker at ALCO.

The Altar Billies are a trio from Orange County California fronted by guitarist/vocalist Michael W Stand. Rounding out the group are Johnny X on upright and Chuck Cummings on Drums. The group covers many classics hits, as well as newly penned originals. Altar Billies are one of many groups that are taking a "liking" to a new and rapidly growing alt country/rockabilly/ psychobilly trend (Punktry as they like to call it).
The group has been playing all over Southern California for about 6 years. They perform for a large variety of audiences both young and old. Altar billies have played at such venues as the Orange County Fair, Orange Street Fair, Silverado Canyon concert series, as well as many clubs in the OC area. They have also opened several times for local OC icon Big Sandy, as well as for Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats..
The group has released several singles recorded live at NRG studios in Hollywood (recording studio for such acts as No Doubt and John Fogerty). Their newest full length effort, "Head'n out West," is Available on itunes and CD Baby:

The BIG BOYS are the Kings of Steam and the Titans of The Wasatch Range can't wait until UP revives 4014 and returns it to Sherman Hill that pass is their playground from Steam Shop Yard in Cheyenne to North Ogden in Utah they ruled it and in 2016 they will return to their home rails to conquer The Wasatch.

I have seen Big Boy 4012 on display at Steamtown in Scranton,PA. I took 3 pictures of it. For those who live in the Eastern states that would like to see Bog Boy 4012, do so. It’s good that Big Boy 4014 will be making excursion runs.

wasatch was my original name, after the wasatch mountains but since im so big people called me big boy so in 1942 i was renamed big boy and to this day you still know me as big boy

Big Boy 4014 will be in Yuma on 10/15/2019 & on 10/16/2019 it will travel to Casa Grande,AZ, it will make a stop in Mohawk Valley next to the Interstate 8 Mohawk Valley Rest stop on the Eastside and in Gila Bend before it will stop in Casa Grande for the night. I’m traveling ho,e to the San Diego area for my birthday and plan on seeing Big Boy 4014.

I enjoyed seeing Big Boy 4014 when it went through Wellton,AZ. I was given a railroad spike that was on the ground by a railroaders son on 10/16/2019. I have no regrets to take the time to see Big Boy 4014 in action. Big Boy is the King of steam locomotives & that late Alco worker who chalked big boy on the very first one in Schenectady,NY in the early 1940’s gave it the right name.
