Julesburg was once dubbed "the wickdest city in America" and "a whirlpool of sin". The area in and around Julesburg had countless battles with Indians when they were building the railroad. In one such battle, the Indians burned the entire town down. Julesburg was one of the most violent cities in America with over 120 bars, casinos, and whore houses.
Pickpockets, hustlers, murders, prostitutes, thieves, and gamblers were everywhere. Arguments ended in gunfire or mob lynchings. Even the local sheriff was held up at gunpoint, disarmed, and then promptly whisked into a bar for a drink. As the railroad moved on so did the town leaving only a hand full of people behind.
Today this is just a sleepy little railroad town. With no fences it is a great place to film trains. On this day it was extremely cold. Was probably the coldest day I have ever filmed trains.
