For a long time I put off filming the ST Thomas cemetery as I knew it was a large one but I knew I really wanted to check it out and without further delay.. Let's tour the old St Thomas Cemetery.

Hi Andrew I see you found PteJohn Alexander's family grave marker. That large metal circle on the top is a Memorial Plaque, otherwise known as a death penny, given to his surviving parents or wife It is not uncommon to see the death penny affixed to a family grave stone. Pte John Charles Alexander 190044 died of wounds on the 6th of February 1917. He was the 5’ 2” son of William and Jeannette Alexander of Gravel Road St Thomas. He worked as a Callboy. He joined the 91st Battalion in March 1915 but was serving with the 38th Battalion when he died. He lies in Ste. Marie Cemetery, Seine-Maritime, France. He is listed in the Elgin County Book of Remembrance.
