Indeed. It shall take some time to reverse mabati stereotype that it's of the poor. It is a very versatile and affordable material for construction. We are hopefull that the population shall be brave in embracing it's versatility.

in countries like somalia, hollow blocks are the only used building materials used.. And the main reasons are 2. 1. the availability of cheap sand 2. the hollow space swallows the bullets that might be shot at the wall.

The heat and rain noise is to be addressed through insulation. The mabati roof structure has a cavity of 50mm that allows for insulation material. These range from expanded polystyrene (EPS), rockwool, reflective foil insulation, foam mattress and many other solutions. In this case, we shall insulate with the reflective foil insulation and clad the foil with 6mm plywood that shall be painted.

Actually the second house can be made pretty with good insulation and finishes and a nice landscaping outside. I have seen a house in Michigan that resembles that house. But that foundation though sini CBD ya manyoka zinakaa huko manze. I wish they did poured concrete for the foundation.
