WW1 Trench Lighter Restoration. This lighter was found in the woods. The lighter of the revolver was broken and I decided to restore it. This lighter is from the First World War period. I removed the rust and made new parts that were lost. I hope you liked my restoration.

Great job! Very cool! I use flux when I solder copper with an iron. It helps the solder flow. I work in stained glass.

Why didn't you use the gas torch to solder the copper? The copper was conducting heat away from the soldering iron faster than the iron could supply it.

Hi when your soldering copper and brass you need more flux and it's needs to be hotter. But otherwise nice job

In order to solder copper tube, you need to have cleaned the joint well and use acid flux and 60% lead-40 tin solder , or a silver solder with a flux core and plenty of heat. Copper tube from the early 20th century was made of a different compound of metals, which were easier to solder.

@@ReXtorer Yes it was very common. The Russians had their Nagant revolver, we Americans had our Colt and Smith and Wesson " Hand Ejector " revolvers because we did not have enough of the Colt 1911 45 ACPs on hand.

мені подобаються бензинові запальнички, але не розумію навіщо її робити у вигляді пістолета. в даному випадку руківка - просто зайвий шмат металу, якби в ній був запасний резервуар для бензину, це було б виправдано. і раз ви вже робили новий резервуар-барабан, можна було б зробити виїмки на корпусі барабану, як на справжній зброї, хоча мабуть без відповідного станку це важко зробити. розумію, що це реставрвція, а не створення нової запальнички (хоча від оригіналу половини не лишилось) просто висловлюю свою думку.

Це ж запальничка стилю, а не функціоналу. Крутіший був той, хто мав запальничку у вигляді револьвера) Вона підкреслювала статус. Щодо додаткового резервуару, то робили так, як це було на цей час технологічно можливо). Суть запальничок в тому, що вони різноманітні і їхні форми виходять далеко за межі зручності, бо це також і модні аксесуари.

you could not solder the copper parts because you were not getting them hot enough. also, you were using the wrong kind of solder.......you should be using silfoss.
