That climb out was mighty steep and that runaway seemed relatively short, Hawaii is a beautiful place. I was there last year loved it. We took off from 8R inbound for Denver on a united 767. :-)

First of all, United flies only the 777 between Chicago and Honolulu at the moment. And second of all, you are right, it's not a GE90, it's a Pratt and Whitney Engine. The 777 is available with 3 different engine manufacturers and these are GE, Rolls Royce, and Pratt and Whitney. This IS a 777. I've been an aviation geek for years, and I know what type of aircraft I was on. Thanks.

Actually, I think United uses the "A"-Market 777's on the Hawaii routes. They are non-ER models. I may be wrong though because ORD-HNL is anywhere between 8-8.5 hours, longer that ORD-LHR in miles and time. The 777 is probably my favorite aircraft. The interior is so nice with the Boeing Signature Sculpted Overhead bins and panels and it is a few inches from being as wide as a 747.

Yeah, I know. The pilot mentioned the reef runway while we were taxiing, but things got changed up, and people have graciously pointed out below that it was indeed not the reef runway. I'll change the info on the video so there is no more confusion.

Yes guys, I realize now, after many people have said, this is NOT the reef runway, and I saw it after the video. So lets clear that up....HOWEVER, the Captain DID say before our departure that we would be using the reef runway, but apparently things changed somewhere in between taxi and take-off. I had been listening to channel 9, however, I had taken it off for some reason, therefore I didn't get the reason for the change. So yes, thanks to you all, I do know it's not the reef.

@frtguy80 So true with your comment frtguy about the takeoff from 22L at HNL. I've been to Hawaii 5 times. Upon our departure from HNL, we always took off from the "lagoon runway", otherwise known as runway 8R. As I'm also a flight simmer, you'd better get up to speed mighty fast if you are to reach takeoff speed on 22L. It's much shorter than the intersecting runways 8L and 8R. You also have the Pacific Ocean near the end of that short runway.

I personally hate leaving Hawaii....I should feel lucky that it's only 4 1/2 or so hours away...........One of these days I'm going there and not coming back to the mainland to live out the rest of my days.

uh the runway was 22Left not the reef runway the reef runway is known as 8 Right and 26 Left. When you took off the winds were coming from the south near taxiway Charlie
@jetboy6615 жыл бұрын
Not the reef runway. You actually fly over the reef runway (8R/26L) at the 1:22 mark.

You were taking off of 22L? is that correct? Not a normal departure from Honolulu. I don't like taking off on that runway, I don't know why it just doesn't hold much interest for me.

Yeah, that what I did about 6 and half years ago, and you just have to say fuck it I am out of here. You do miss where you were living, although a couple of days of the cold and snow of where I lived before reaffirms my decision. Aloha, hope you can come.

It IS hard to guess that an experienced pilot was there and you were flying seeing as you have no training on these aircraft which you already said. No airline, or owner of said aircraft are going to put a 30 million to 300 million dollar aircraft in the hands of someone without proper training, even with an experienced pilot. You also said that your friends own a 777-300ER, there are none that are private int he world at the this time,look above to see what you said. Yes, there are private 737s
@PhilG38015 жыл бұрын
Okay, so what is your type rating, are you IFR or VFR rated? Once in a lifetime thing huh? I've never heard of anyone getting a once in a lifetime "thing" being able to fly a 744, 773 or even a 737 series aircraft. It takes years of training, and since you just stated you don't train on them, I find it hard to believe you've actually flown them yourself, given your age which is obvious in your videos. As to your friends executive 773ER, there are currently no private 777-300ER's in the world.
@PhilG38015 жыл бұрын
This is a -200 model. And you say you train on 747-400's, 777-300ER's, and 737's, yet you do not know what the wing/engine profile of a 777 looks like from the front, and you do not know that the 777-200 model comes with more than one engine type? Finally, you know someone who owns a -300ER as an executive jet? I call Bull Shit on all of those statements.

VASI, lets the pilot know they are on the glide slope, depending on the color of the light....the pilots will adjust their vertical speed accordingly to maintain the proper glide scope on approach. Dude, I mean, I know you are avid about aviation, and that's great, but you already admitted to lying once about not training on any Boeing aircraft, 2nd, your videos of you, you seem way to young to even have had enough experience, and it's very implausible that you have flwon a 777, 747, or 737
