United 777 Polaris Business Class to Rome

Join me as I fly first from Denver to Chicago, then from Chicago to Washington DC, and finally from Washington DC to Rome. Included in this video are clips of the Polaris lounge, a seat tour of the Polaris Business Class seat, and of course lots of aircraft footage.
The first leg was on a 757-300, the second on a 737-900ER, and then the leg to Rome was aboard a 777-200ER with GE90 engines. The reason behind this strange itinerary was solely based on fares. Denver to Europe tickets are always very expensive so we decided just to buy a one way ticket to Chicago and start our actual journey to Rome from there.
Breaking up the trip like this also allowed us to visit two United Polaris Lounges, and let me tell you, those places are impressive! They're easily some of my favorite airport lounges. Everything about them feels incredibly upscale and makes you think, "wow, I'm flying an American carrier?" Yes, you are. Everything about them was done right, from the decor to the dining room. The only small complaint (if you can even call it that) was with regards to the crowds. The lounge at Dulles got very busy leading up to the bank of European departures.
With regards to the actual on board product, it was typical United fare. I always have to note, United's seats are amazing along with their onboard entertainment, so if those two things are most important to you, you should love this product.

Thank you for sharing your trip here. I noticed your trip was a 2 stop connection. In finding reservations was there a direct flight from Denver to Washington? Maybe that direct flight to Washington was too late for the connection to Rome? And I am glad you and your wife were able to go to the Polaris Lounges. Yes, it is always nice to go to the membership lounges before and sometimes after flights. We'll, I hope you are able to go back to Rome again soon. It is very nice there!

So our ticket to Rome was actually from Chicago and involved the connection in DC. We flew to Chicago on a separate ticket because going from Chicago to Rome rather than Denver to Rome saved us quite a bit of money.

United Polaris seats are very nice, but the rest of the product is inconsistent. Can't believe they ❤still do single tray service.

wait, how did you get access to the polaris lounge on a domestic flight?

As long as you have a long haul international flight on your itinerary, you can access it. So since our tickets were from Chicago to Rome, we could access the Polaris lounge in Chicago.
