Our injuries were so bad that they became more than norm, notice how towards the end there he changed the playing style to fit the players that we had that was the argument from the start do that earlier might have been able to save some results. The way it all finished if we had won three or four more games, or drawn 5 or 7 more games probably would have been in Europe. You were hampered by injuries but the manager did nothing to mitigate that fact which is literally his job. Roll with the punches adjust to your new reality those are very important parts of being a leader, I'm not calling for him to be sacked I'm just saying he didn't do that he failed that part of the test

Like we get a player back and he gets injured almost immediately. 70 or more injuries in a season, knowing our bench isn’t that strong. We are where we are meant to be.

@@mzakaria10 well it is constant disruption throughout the season and contributed to a overall mess across the club. The injuries was the main thing when it comes to the bad results but the off field actions also created a bad atmosphere within the club which affected the players mentality

It's the performances that matter at this stage. We were very lucky to even get 8th based on performances over the season if we're being honest. The eye test shows that and even if you like to look at stats based on how we played and expected points we should have finished 14th! Nobody can tell me that the way we play is simply down to injuries. Martinez will likely get injured again next season, and the way people talk about build up play relying on him, we will just be screwed because he won't be playing. There's a lot more wrong with the tactics and philosophy of how we want to play, then just saying injuries is the cause of our problems.

Fair point, Im always in favour of building the spine of the team at the base. But we need to bring at the minimum a starting quality RW and a backup ST at the minimum or else it just eliminates any gains made by bolster the backline and outs more pressure on them. Would've helped in so many games this season if we could score first or score more than 1 goal a game.

Don't think it wouldve made a material difference imo. When Evans arrived he did his part, we certainly didn't lose games because of him. How much better is Willy, we weren't gonna win that many games more with him more involved. Other thing is due to the injury, Willy still ended up getting chances and also got affected by injuries as well.

Also there's this notion that because theyre part of our academy they automatically deserve a spot and chance or are good enough to play. Also, anybody that's played any competitive sport at any level knows there's a massive gap between an 18, 19 year old athlete and a 28, 29 year old man. Tuanzebe, Donald Love, Blackett, Varella, etc when's the last time we've actually had a decent defender show their capable at the Prem and at Manchester United. I guess I'm just about 'we don't give youth players a chance merely because they're youth players. The quality and potential has to be there for that commitment. Else they come in, and ship 1-2 goals for nothing when a Jonny Evans type wouldnt have done that.

Only thing I'll tolerate is for the sake of cost cutting and stability is to keep him for the final year and let him walk. And then bring in a new manager with the summer to work. With two summer transfer windows and some of the players we have already, we could actually start to progress by then.
