Oliver Dowden, Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, and Secretary of State in the Cabinet Office of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, addresses the general debate of the 78th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (New York, 19 - 26 September 2023).
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. Each of the 193 Member States of the United Nations has an equal vote.
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world.
But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity.

AI like all technologies is a Pandora's Box, it must be dealt with in an adult way, given that many of us failed in previous centuries with the new things we created like the steam engine and atomic energy, to harness them properly and without serious risk. Good speech Mr Dowden.

Ai truly offers potential that humanity must harness and risks that must be contained. The UN will have a big say on this for a binding and effective regulation. New and big things are on the horizons. These require international cooperation at the UN level, side by side with respective nations particular regulation at their state or national level. I can see two big things available for the reaping: productivity and efficiency. Also, if Ai regulated well, will provide greater checks and balances in world or international affairs. Thank you!

Artificial Intelligence! We need to communicate that and interpreting it in a way that will benefits those and communities that using it for solving issues affecting them in good or bad way . But international community its huge and also its informations. Regional units need better cooperation on that to be available or not ,what is quality information and what rubbish. Policy maker's need to be well aware that need to prioritise and what not. That is the work of Government and National Universities to take advantage off tasks that can support to re- educate our nation. Nice speech thank you too. More need to be done so with Irish and Northern Irish issues. As the same as Cyprus with Turkey, Northern Macedonia,with Macedonia Greece , Northern Greece and Balcans.......and UK played and playing important role in those areas of study from my early years on how the external invention effecting the whole society. The intervention and changes need to come from inside outside not the opposite. ....

Those living there don't want UK to go, they have been asked many times, if the population says no, the responsibility is still there, UK has left every single country that asked them to go and the very few they didn't, it did not work xD so this proves what you list wants them there, so what can you do, just leave them with no protection? smart plan.

Think on this, when the Argentinians occupied South Georgia they murderer the penguins. The Falklands Islanders and The Gibraltarians all voted to stay British. Of the others I don't know, but many other countries do not want rocks in the middle of the ocean like Ascension, which is mostly an RAF airbase, like the US uses Gaum.
