As a life-long robotics professional, please permit me to put a fine point on the way the H1 is being marketed. Unitree would do well to move away from describing the H1 as “the first general purpose humanoid robot”. Here’s why: I founded White Box Robots in 2000. By 2003 we had functional prototypes. By 2006 we started selling the first production run. What could our 914 PC-BOT do? Technically not much at that early release. Unmapped autonomous navigation and a few other basic functions. We deliberately described it as “a general purpose autonomous robot”. Hoping that people would buy it and figure out useful things to do with it. In retrospect, we couldn’t answer the basic question “What does it do?” History is repeating itself here. That approach did not work for us and I would argue it’s not a great move for Unitree either. Develop a couple *legitimately* useful tasks the robot can perform (with polish) right out of the box and build on it. Commit to that process like your company’s survival depends on it. Because it does. If that machine doesn’t solve a fist-pounding need pretty quickly, it’s going to be little more than a passing mechanical curiosity.

there are a lot of small details in industrial automation applications that are very simple for a human but can't be automated because it is overkill for automation purposes. This results in extra manpower even with complete automation that doesn't do anything meaningful.(like changing the stretch film roll in a palletizer)Can these robots realistically fill these gaps and how time consuming to train them do stuff generally speaking?

The greatness of women, men, and robots, and etc. has much to do with the greatness of men, women, and etc. that is to say the woman who raises the man, the women who support the men (if they did), and etc. determines how great the other can be. That is why it should be our mission to create God, as much as it is to explore the outer reaches of Space. If you think about it, it is the only mission.

Makes sense to have some humanoids small like this so they can get into crammed spaces and save on batteries. I’d recommend focusing dexterity and hand development for smaller ones and have them work with larger ones for tasks which require strength, reach and height.

@@iraklimgeladze5223 Unitree is terrible at social media, for example they have a robot dog that can carry 100kg but they don't release videos of people riding it. This is why you don't know them. Boston Dynamics on the other hand is really good at social media, but bad at selling products - their cool videos were kinda their only goal for a long time since it was a research-only company before they got purchased. Unitree sold robot dogs even before Boston Dynamics and their stuff is affordable, even targeting consumers.

There's an interesting report put out by the think tanks RethinkX. It is titled, This Time, We Are the Horses. As it gives the same rational as horses getting displaced by the cars within 20 years. Human labor will be replaced by humanoid robots within 10-15 years and a billion robots will be manufactured in a year. The tech disruption will be from the bottom up and the very first version will be the worst iteration and they will only get better.

Also imagine having this as a kid as your companion/friend, you could 3d print/dress different body parts and heads to customize him that would be awesome. Maybe the best would be to have a robot sdk/App store so people could add functionality like a cooking chef or personal trainer etc. This is so cool...
