Amazing lecture about vexillology. The power and symbolism of flags has little comparisons in life. They can move us unlike so many other things and compel us do actions we would’ve never done without them.

@@phantomsnare33 Never knew about the confederate flag being labeled incorrectly. Pretty much dissolves ones argument as using it to represent southern pride.

John Moa: My initial response to the video was that flags represent gender, countries, and regions. For example, when looking at the pride flag, almost everyone knows what the flag means and the struggle behind what it represents. Initially, my thought of a flag was it was to be used only to describe something. Furthermore, Michael Green's statement of flags being capable of being a weapon or a way to discriminate against a group of people or someone got me thinking about how he has a valued point flags are looked upon so strongly that it could start a whole war just for violating a peace of cloth.

The reason why people are not upset when the flag is used as a costume or an athletic uniform or strung flat is because it's not done out of disrespect to the flag

Patriots are created from these kinds of cloths. And these minds of value&beliefs could turn into weapons against ones that were not cut from the same cloth, while being praised as heros in long stands.

The US flag is not bad, but at a distance nobody is going to recognize the stars or the number of stripes, leading them into confusing it with the malaysian, liberian or the east india company flag.
