This documentary film will take you to an exotic destination of Tanzania on the East African coasts.
Far away from the business of the harbour of Stone Town, the capital, the little fishing village of Nungwe, located in the very North of Zanzibar, lives to the rhythm of the past.
Here, the making of dhows, the fishing ways, daily life, all this remains firmly linked to tradition.

This video was nice for what it was but it wasn’t made by sailors, that’s for sure. We didn’t get to see how these fishing dhows are sailed, do they go out on a single tack, set or tow nets? How many gybes or warring ship do they do normally? Traditional Indian Ocean of coastal African sailing techniques would have been good to see.

Beautifully filmed and quite fascinating. The narrator Did a fine job too. Unfortunately, he clearly knows absolutely nothing about boats! It would have been very beneficial to have had the script checked out by a qualified seaman. So very many laughable mistakes! But well worth watching, nonetheless!

Beautiful videography and interesting economic info BUT: you’re talking about the East African coast, not the China Sea. What is this obsession with ‘junks’? They’re ‘dhows’, a generic, non-Arabic word for a variety of NW Indian Ocean and Arabian traditional trading vessels. (‘Junk’ is the generic word for the Chinese waters equivalent.)

Is this guy an academic?, far from it, just a propagandist stiled on racist victorian era 🧐👎 Again repeating "junkS" at 2:15 , 3:10 , 8:35 all within 20 min of video, really loves the word, must be junK himself. I just dont know how guys in Africa put up with these kind of idiots. What about the french language text?
