@@randomgeocacher Thanks! This only handles part of the question. I’m wondering how the Volt 476 iPad Pro or Android connection will handle the complex audio routing. For instance, I can get my MOTU M4 to work in stereo with my Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 in the MOTIV app, but when streaming it messes up and won’t let me save audio; and the back 2 inputs don’t seem to work. On the iPad Pro it only seems to work in GarageBand, etc. The IRig Pro Duo I/O works great for recording and streaming on both devices (not Facebook, won’t let you save the videos) but it’s only stereo input and prone to more interference noise.

Thanks for the example dude, your video was recommended first as volt vs audient! nice. I've been back and forth between either getting the audient id44 mk2 and the 476P Volt. Originally i wasn't looking at apollo, but was considering buying a 1176 clone, but that would be one mono, vs having this 76 available on each channel. so some interesting ideas. In my head I prefer the Audient, also, how has the volt been on windows? or do you not use windows - thats my other concern.
@SonnyGreenwichJr

I use Logic on a Mac, but I'm sure the Volt works with Windows. I've been really enjoying the Volt for the Pres & Comp thing, it's just so easy to use. I also use the switching between out 1-2 & 3-4 as A/B for listening to different takes. I don't think you'll be disappointed! 🔥🧨💪🏽🤠👍🏽🧨🔥

Great video!!! For clarity....when using 2 sets of monitors (one set via 1& 2 output second via 3&4 output) pushing the designated buttons on the front allow for one or both sets to play, all while controlling the volume with the big knob?
@SonnyGreenwichJr
@SonnyGreenwichJr 2 жыл бұрын
No. That is exactly what I hoped it would do but it does not. My second set of little speakers, which are attached to output 3-4, have their own volume control so it kinda does what I want. Outputs 1-4 on the back of the Volt 476 are line outputs. Monitor outputs are 1-2. I believe that is the same for the Audient ID14 MKII. Hope this helps! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘

the line outputs are customizable through your daw, which is my there isn't a dedicated knob for them on the unit. A solution for your case would be using USB MIDI controller to map a knob to the line out volume.

Very good video! Currently I have an Allen & Heath Zed 428 mixer and a Motu 828mk3 audio interface and the truth is that I use at most 3 channels simultaneously and it really takes up a lot of space. I'm thinking of changing all my equipment for the Audient id44 or UAD volt 476... my only doubt is if I'm going to get audio of the same quality. - how good is the sound quality of the audient Id44 or volt 476? Thanks for sharing

Hey Adrian Thanks for dropping by AND leaving a comment! I don't think you can go wrong with either the Volt or the Audient, I have both but I use the Volt every day. I think the sound is fairly similar however I really like being able to use the Pre & Compressor on the way in (kinda like to tape in the old days!) with the Volt. Hi Sonny. I’m really dying to know .....listening to Vegas is Great, with all that lovely soundscape stuff with you and the wife having a laugh. The bass drum hits are toe curling just after the start. They literally blow out my front room walls. Probably because my speakers are large as well ......Can you remember what mic it was recorded with? I’m guessing that compression fattened it up, but it’s a wonderful sound. Love that album. Also on Los Angeles, is that oboe sound sampled or a keyboard generated sound? I’m a retired oboist and listening to it closely shows that it has the anomalies of sound that you get on an American oboe with certain notes. (Especially C, which changes tone in comparison to the surrounding notes) Oboes tend to be uneven in response between individual notes and it is there on that sample!! If it is a keyboard sound, it’s terrific, but I suspect all of the notes of the oboe have been sampled! The quality of the recording is great. The bass sound is bottomless! River of Tears is gut wrenching in the bass at the start!! Beautiful. Did you mix this? Happy New Year.
@SonnyGreenwichJr
@SonnyGreenwichJr 2 жыл бұрын
The drums on Vegas are a Matt Chamberlain loop that I beefed up a bit with SSL Buss compression. The oboe is Spitfire Audio sample that I played in on keys. I can't remember if I played the bass part on keys or if Pat Crowley (from Mary Black's band) did it. Pat plays most of the keyboard parts on River of Tears. I mixed and mastered all of the music at home using Logic Pro X including all the new songs. 🔥🧨💪🏽🤠👍🏽🧨🔥
@iancraig
@iancraig 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a fantastic mix. The oboe samples must have been taken over different ranges I think. That tonality on the note C gives it away because it’s always American oboists that produce that sound on that particular note and French/Italian players because they use a different system of fingering compared to UK oboes. Those samples are pretty good. If they had vibrato, it would be hard to hear that they are samples. My speakers virtually leap off the ground when that bass drum hits. REALLY deep.

Checking that device carefully. I must use it live to play VSTs, for me is essential how to drive volume on output 3 and 4 (my monitors), hopefully independently from main stereo out. A question: isn't it better to compress and eq after recording? If you do it on the audio board you cannot change it while you are mixing. Am I wrong?
@SonnyGreenwichJr
@SonnyGreenwichJr 2 жыл бұрын
You can have independent outputs 1-2 or 3-4. But what you can't do is send to two different pairs of monitors. It's possible to do it but you can't use the volume knob, you can use 3-4 direct out into speakers that have their own volume control. For vocals and guitar I like to use eq and/or compression to the recording. You can then use a subtle touch to add additional eq and/or compression which I find better. You can't undo what has gone "to tape". Thanks for the comment, hope this answers your questions! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘

Outs and input pres are not at all sends and returns, for outboard gear. We don t want things to go into a preamp, no way
@SonnyGreenwichJr
@SonnyGreenwichJr 8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I understand what you mean? The inputs work as normal without engaging the pre or comp sections, you can turn them off no problem if you don't want to use them. I find them handy. Thanks for dropping by AND leaving a comment, very important for me that the information is right 🔥🧨💪🏽🤠👍🏽🧨🔥

@@SonnyGreenwichJr hi ;)... A send and return, which is the proper way of connecting outboard gear are not the same thing. your input in that soundcard is always a preamp, and that will always colour the sound. Take care mate ;)

@@gibson2623 Ah yes, I see what you're saying, that is true. For a prosumer device though, this still has 4 ins and 4 outs that can easily be used to connect outboard gear albeit through a slightly coloured soundcard. Still a win in my books, no need to spend the big bucks Cheers to you too, kind Sir! ☘💪🏽👀👍🏽☘

Audient id24 22 have send and returns on the pres, to use outboard gear during recording, you can also bypass the preamps and go directly into the converters on the inputs.Nrither the Volt nor Id 14 has that.
