Underrated by the critics but not by the fans . Movies in the last 45 yrs been viewed since Star wars only by its box office receipts. Movies are seen by the audience or viewer and we like quality and this film is outstanding.

He’s not necessarily a god in the comics his home world was a desert 4 times hotter than normal even though he can be severely burned he is able to withstand way hotter climates compared to the average human and at that he is a alpha of his race which gives him healing abilities an mystic powers the water just helped him a little love the attention to detail in this movie!!!

I appreciate that the writers/director had Kira literally be 'speechless' at the end of that scene. For her to utter any kind of "thank you" would have been/seemed so trivial, and even unrealistic, considering what just happened (Riddick's ridiculous save). She's just overwhelmed in awe.

I love that Riddick franchise is cult classic and not another hyped sci-fi franchise. it makes more appealing for me to come back over and over again and watch all three movies and enjoy it. hopefully they will expand the series. I mean it's one of the best universe I have seen in sci-fi movies so it really needs to expand. new planets, environments, wild life. come on Vin, make one or two Riddick movies before you get too old to play it. we are tired of that crap F&F franchise that turned from amazing series to circus

I love how all the sound stops before the fire hits the rock just behind them. And then - Boom! Kyra checks herself - every body part is at its place. Intact. Riddick rises, vapor around him, looking exactly how the baddest mf-ker in the Universe should look like. Kyra is speechless. Her brain overwhelmed with emotions - both thankful and embarrassed because after all she's just a little girl standing before her mentor. I cried on this moment.

What a movie. What a universe ! Same method as for Star Wars : forget all the physical things you learned, forget science, just take pleasure and enter the rules of Riddick's world. "Pitch Black" was a masterpiece, "Chronicles of Riddick" was like a roller coaster, and "Riddick" is some kind of guilty pleasure. Very underrated saga. Beautiful planets, incredible monsters, and mysterious worlds I hope we will visit one day (Anteverse, Furia...). The DVD bonus featured some really cool things on "Pitch Black" and "Chronicles of Riddick", especially the logbooks of the mercenaries during their investigations to find where Riddick hides himself.

There would be almost no germs... Not enough time to "colonise" & spread.. EXCEPT... for maybe the 29 km *(THATS RIGHT, 29 KMS "18 mile") DEEP,* prison. But that's their "home" stay away from that area. 😂 IRONICALLY, that's the only liveable area.. So... just stay away from the planet 🤣😆

The script has been finished for awhile, and rumors were that it was supposed to be filmed this year. However, given everything going on, it's probably been pushed back.

Astronomers have theorized planets like this, harsh but have a temperate for a period of time before becoming harsh again, I can imagine it was a strange orbit around its host star.

To this day, still one of my top 3 favorite action set pieces put on film. Also, that zoom out shot at the very beginning and the “turn around to look at the horizon” shot at 1:00 are just, mmm! Perfect!
